Basically if an iron block that is placed near a redstone wire that is being powered will act like
a cactus, which means you will lose health when you step on it.
If you place a water flow that is touching this iron block you will be shocked when you dive into the water.
Because a world made of blocks where exploding green creatures walk around after magically appearing at night needs to be realistic.
No support. Redstone isn't even meant to be electricity, it's some sort of dust that carries and generates energy in another form.
Bingo. Redstone is not electricity. No support.

Minecraft is not meant to be super realistic. If it was, then...
*Everything wouldn't be blocks.
*Wolves wouldn't automatically get collars when tamed.
*Food poisoning couldn't be automatically be cured by milk.
*Fences wouldn't automatically connect to each other.
*You wouldn't be able to make a nether portal.
*There wouldn't be infinite water sources.
*There would be no Mooshrooms, Endermen, Zombie Pigmen, Blazes, Creepers, Snow Golems, Iron Golems, Bosses, or any hostile mobs.
*There would be no experience orbs or experience system.
*Chests would only be able to hold one thing.
*You wouldn't slow down in Cobwebs.
*You wouldn't be able to brew potions.
*There would be no ender chest.
*You would only be able to carry one thing at a time.
*There would be no redstone.
This is just a few of the things, almost EVERYTHING would be changed if the game was made to be super realistic. Realism is not always a good thing.

You can get shocked.

I agree with Crimsollite.
I use Redstone on a frequent basis, and it stands out when using it against Iron blocks.
Unfortunately, no support from me.

Gameplay importance > Realism importance.

Based on the posts on this thread so far, yes. Yes you are. There may be other people who like this idea, but I'm not one of them.

Redstone is said to be radioactive, so mabye it poisons you or something, only if you stand on the real wire?
An alternate timeline emerges.
However, we must first start from the beginning...
