I was thinking about how lots of people just play on peaceful and just build and mine, then I thought how cool it would be for a new peaceful mode!
so my idea goes like this, its in the world option with hardcore, survival and creative and when you spawn the gameplay is a lot easier and has a few different blocks
first up the gameplay
you will spawn in a world with pink leaves on trees and a different coloured ground with a small house next to you with a starter chest in it. neutral mobs will spawn twice as much and drop twice as much (including xp). also, all the effects of being on peaceful apply too. did I also mention all mobs still spawn but are neutral?
lastly, ores are twice as common and spawn much higher up then they should be able to normally
second, blocks
the only different blocks are peaceful dirt (bit blueish), peaceful logs (pinkish) and peaceful leaves (pink)
finally is enchanting
enchanting is more likely to be better and will at most require 20 levels

peaceful mode is not toggleable in game

So, basically, it would just be peaceful mode, but with different blocks and different enchanting system.
Might I ask what the point is? Remember, the time spent implementing something like this could be better spent improving what's already in the game and fixing bugs.
Sounds creative and full of imagination and it also sounds a lot like an adventure map I recently played, meaning we can sort of already do that in terms of mechanics though it's not easy peasy or without a lot of detailed work involved.
Everything from disabling mob spawn when in normal and hard to having your own custom mobs (custom mobs or user spawned mobs (eggs) will spawn in easy, normal and hard, regardless of rules set) along with custom NPC shops, items, quest creation, chat dialogues, toppled with being able to create/generate worlds out of select blocks and with select features/rules/weather/time (eternal night etc).
I see what you're saying as more of a beginners world or somewhere to start in which one would find a better or faster understanding of the game, a walk-through of a sort. I often think about how nice it would be to have a built in library/encyclopedia of every thing in the game with explanations and searchable and not just in creative or with mods.. ;o (in game wiki) perhaps something one would work for over time and build slowly as they accumulate knowledge of the game.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

That could be done fairly easily with a built in tutorial world. Although I do wish they'd make an in-game database of crafting recipes.
For this little part .. if you use a constant pulser running on a command block with the command set for /difficulty 2 @a[r=verylargeRadius) they can switch their gamemode a zillion times in a zillion ways and it won't matter, as that pulsing command is going to change it back to 'Normal' right away.

I haven't made too many suggestions before :/

and that ^
that would make all the difference in the world if users had a way to at least remember after they learn.
