Hi everyone.
My idea is to create a new system in minecraft - the classes system. The main idea of it is that the player will be able to develop himself overtime to a certain path, and enjoy from abilities which other classes can't. For example, let's take a WIZARD\SORCERER class. Of course they won't be able to fly and point to death on mobs, but they will be able to shoot ice ray, burn enemies with their hands etc. They will also have their disadvantages, such as being weak at melee, unaccurate with bow and vulnerable to falling and hitting from mobs. they also wont be able to wear any armor which stronger then leather. The use of rays, fireballs or even summoning a fiendish spider will cost some valuable ingredients, maybe even a new one, such as adamantine.
Second class I want be added is the FIGHTER, which will be, ah, a fighter! He will be strong in melee, faster then the normal and will have a bonus to the armor. maybe he will even have a resistance to falling, or will be able to hold 2 swords at once.
3rd class i thought of, is the RANGER. He will have a very big bonus to his bow, and he will better hidden (the mobs will difficult to see him). Tameable animals will follow him even if he don't have the materials for it. He could have a far longer line of sight, to see animals and mobs and.
Another class I think can be good is the standard FARMER. It sound sucks, but it's not that bad actually. The farmer will be the average guy. He won't be strong, but not weak. Not fast, but not slow. Not resistance, but not vulnerable. He could wear any armour and fight fairly with any weapon. But, as a farmer, he will have some improvments: Will be need to use bone meal only once (as of the minecraft versions until 1.5.2), will loot better from animals and farms and will have better trades when trading with NPC villagers.
These are only 4 main classes I thought of. Surely a ROGUE could be nice, or even a CLERIC.
So this is actually the main idea of the classes system - to make the minecraft much more interesting and fun.
Also, here's some general improvements:
- You could hire hirelings at the cities, which will help you out in youe adventures (with the new system applied, you could pick your hirelings' class)
- A kind of a held-torch that will light when held in hand.
- A village in the snow, or in the jungle, or both, so when going in these biomes it won't be boring.
- A new biome, savana. (maybe even new animals out there?). I guess i'm not the first thinking of that, but in some mods of minecraft it looks pretty nice. think it's worth a try
And.. thats it actually. Please comment on the form of my writing, because its my the first time ever writing on a forum. Also, English is not my basic language, so i hope you could understand me:)
I'll just be the first of many people who are going to show up here and say this seems too much like an RPG and that it sounds better as a mod. I guarantee you will hear that a lot.

While I agree such a system would be fun to play (and in fact, is), this kind of system doesn't really mesh with the way the game is designed. For vanilla minecraft, this would undermine all of the core features of the game.
However the plugin API is on its way, and I know plenty of fun plugins that will provide the features you are asking for will be developed, it simply will not be a part of the core game.
The main problem I see here is a lack of flexibility. Minecraft has been called by some a "creativity toy", and perhaps rightly so. one of the wonderful advantages to the game is the ability to do what you feel like. Everything is built around the wealth of options you have. Now, having classes might seem like it would open doors to new styles of play, and on the surface it even would. However, it would ultimately be more a limitation than an advantage. Over the lifespan of any significantly invested world, players' interests will change, perhaps even several times. One day, a player may be building an elegant town house with outbuildings and massive gardens. The next, they may feel like diving into the caves and adventuring, fighting mobs and looking for treasure, and so on. This would mean that, in the long term, people would end up feeling more constrained by the limitations of a class than they would liberated by its strengths. That, or people would take a the old Dungeons & Dragons concept of "min-maxing" and use a class who's benefits apply in more circumstances than its drawbacks (probably the Fighter or Farmer) exclusively, making the other classes go unused and leaving the game essentially as it is now.
I've never heard of Cube World until now. Actually, this idea has come to me since my brother is playing D&D, and I thought it would be nice to add another thing to the game. Also, you may be able to change your class, or be more than one class. Notice that all the class don't have lack of combat abilities. Maybe the fact that the wizard couldn't wear diamond armor is a little bit hurt him, but his spells are making up for this. All the advantages and disadvantages of the classes were only the alpha version of it I just had this idea in mind a few weeks and really wanted to see some other people's opinions. Sorry I didn't quote you guys I just don't know how:/ (it's my first post ever on a forum)

But I don't know how to make mods for Minecraft. Is there any company\organization where I can offer my idea as a mod?
Lemme see if I can rustle it up

Keep in mind that classes in Minecraft have already been done in a mod. You may be able to find a few comprehensive mods of that already
