So I'll go ahead and say that if this is already posted somewhere, I'm sorry in advance (I honestly did look for it, and saw things similar, but not including this idea).
I've been playing Minecraft for a couple years now, and the thing that bugs me the most is the chat box online. When you get on a massive server with roughly 1,000 people on all the time (IE: Swag-Craft where I play), the chat box is spammed constantly, making normal conversations hard to hold. Is there any way the chat box could be improved to look something similar to perhaps World of Warcraft's chat box style? That way, you can join channels and have different tabs for only private messages, towny chats, world chats, etc.
I've been an admin on a couple servers and it's rather frustrating when you're trying to help someone and everyone else that "needs help desperately" spams the chat. A slightly more complex style, such as what I mentioned above, I feel would greatly reduce the confusion between players and provide a more enjoyable environment between player and player, and of course, between admins and players.
**It was brought to my attention that something like this would be helpful for larger servers, however, smaller servers might have difficulties due to bandwidth. With that being said, perhaps this could be done in a way that would allow the server owner to toggle this feature on and off.**
I guess to a point. It would be a nifty feature for the larger servers, but it could also eat up bandwith for smaller servers that don't need it. If it had a toggle, then I'd be game.
Hmm maybe I should edit my post then And wouldn't there be a way to keep the bandwidth down?
There are a few ways you could. But when you're trying to squeeze everything you can out of a crappy 5 slot server (we've all been there :P) every megabyte of ram taken up translates into more lag

That's true, but I think I may have found a solution.

Hmm...well then... I guess I'll have to slap my server owner till he puts this on the server.
