I think that this is something really needed for vanilla servers and adventure maps: a command that teleports the player back to it's spawn point, like when the he dies... this would be very useful for some sort of a checkpoint mechanic on adventure maps, or teleporting the player to his home when he's lost on singleplayer or vanilla servers. And I think it wouldn't be something hard for the developers to do, since the spawn point is nothing but a coordinate, and the script already exists because thats what happens when your character dies!
the syntax should be like /tp (player) spawnpoint (player)
This would be an addition on /tp
The second (player) is optional, it is if you want to teleport someone to someobody else's spawnpoint. Without it it teleports you to your own.
I support the idea but I think that would be a better syntax.
This is a fairly good idea. It's so simple, I'm surprised it hasn't been added yet. I support. Just some advice, though. Get ready, usually this happens. Some people support. But then come the critics. They will try to find a way that you can improve your post, or will just try to destroy it. Just be ready.

What if someone had the username spawnpoint? I'm sure someone took it.
YOURS would work. I was pointing out a flaw in Nsta8's version of the syntax. Didn't you see the quote bubble?
Nsta8's should work just fine. The spaces break up each section and usernames can't have spaces afaik. So it would just check what section of the syntax it is in.

Strong support. My map demands this feature be added. I want players to be able to return home from anywhere in the map, as well as back to that exact location too. It is pretty much a Mark and Recall spell if you will. Or a Farore's Wind from Zelda. Or like in Diablo, using a town portal potion. i have keepInventory true, but it's really stupid to have to kill yourself to make it work, because I want the player to pay some gold for each death. also, it is the only missing piece of logic in my map that im working on that can eliminate a realtime pause menu, even for multiplayer.
Please read the rules and don't post on dead threads. The broken rule is Necroposting. If you find a old year thread, do not post in it. It can get you warned with a star. Plus, I'm pretty sure this has been added as /spawnpoint, so your necroposting has gone out of hand.
I also would really love to see this concept in vanilla. At the moment I have to tp players to an End portal that drops them into a portal back into the Overworld. It's not smooth at all right now.
btw, bumping this thread was legit... sue me, he didn't abuse anything here.

I strongly support this idea. In my server, I need help with friends to build things, and I always set my spawnpoint so that I remember where the build is, but I need to return to the world spawnpoint. With this in mind, it would be good if you could delete a spawnpoint.
Sugested syntax: /tpspawnpoint <PLAYER>
This would be an addition on /tp

Though the OP wants it in Vanilla. It could also be useful for other people.
