When you use a Bed, you get teleported to the "Dream World", which is place with a draw distance set to very short (and unchangable), a mist will surround you that glows a color (the color will shift over time, from red to yellow, to blue, and so on), that color verifies to you that you are in a Dream. The World can be very small, and you may even find the Edge. A Dream ends when you die, or accomplish the Goal of the Dream.
There are 8 different Dream Goals. There will be a glowing effect on all blocks associated with a Goal.
1: Collect (Wood, Milk, Flowers, ect.): There will be a glowing effect on all needed items, you need to get a predetermined number from 3 to 17 to end the Dream.
2: Die: Go fall off a cliff, or harass a Creeper.
3: Jump off the Edge: Find where the world ends, it will seem like you are floating on an Island in the sky, with nothing visible in the distance.
4: Find Diamond: Get 1 Diamond.
5: Kill the (Creeper/Skeleton/Spider): Find the particular Mob, and kill it.
6: Get Home: You will be 100 to 150 blocks from your home, and you have to find your way back.
7: Destroy your Stuff: You will be given 7 to 12 TNT blocks, and Flint 'n Steel, and have to destroy a predetermined number of player-placed blocks (Some number between 1 and 50)
8: Make (a railroad, a house, a tower, a hole, ect): There will be a glowing shape floating in the air, and blocks in your inventory, you have to figure out what to do. Or you are given a tool, and have to clear a certain number of blocks. Say, you get a Diamond Shovel, and have to clear a ton of Dirt/Gravel to end the Dream.
If you Jump off the Edge, there is a chance you will enter another Dream, unless you already Leveled Up in the Dream, then it just ends.
Some Dreams will be in your world, with your inventory, and all your buildings, but anything you change will have no effect on the World when you wake up. Or parts of the World can be from your World, but in a different place, or some things in your inventory/chests might be in your inventory in the Dream. However, the Hotbar will always be empty except for things the Dream gave you.
What is the point of Dreams? You can get Experience in a Dream, but you can't level up, however you can get 99% of a level in a Dream. If you complete the Goal, you get 1%, and that is the only time you can Level Up in a Dream. Besides Expirience, it can be fun to run around in a Dream and not worry about Dying, even on Hardcore Maps, death in a Dream doesn't count.
It shouldn't be too hard on your computer to generate a mini-map in a few seconds, and a Dream would fill out this game and give HUGE room for incredible "quests" that are wholly unrelated to anything.
What about a dream where you are in a cobblestone fort, and have to defend from an army of Creepers? Or you are on a giant Cobblestone Wall, and are defending from a horde of Skeletons, you are even given a Diamond Suit of armor, and a special Dream-Only Diamond Bow.
The higher your Player Level, the longer the Dreams will be, so at level 1, you may have to collect 2 flowers, and at level 30, you need to clear a field of wheat and turn it all into bread. Fun, yes, important, meh.
Edit:
A button to opt-out of a Dream, in the middle of the top of the screen, while it is loading the Dream-World, and also in the Dream when it does load. Also, if you stand still and don't move the mouse or hit any keys for 30 seconds, the dream ends.
A Dream server, where anyone can design a Dream and upload it, with any sort of preset Goal, the limit is 500 kilobyte file. Plenty for a medium-sized floating island, with a puzzle.
To make them, you need 2 fancy glowing wands, any block you touch starts to glow. To finish the Goal, that block is placed in the players inventory and they have to put it back, or if the other wand was used on it, that block is in the world, and the player is given the tool to remove it, so they have to go remove it to finish the Goal.
So they could have to repair a hole left by a Creeper, for 25% of a level. Or patch a hole in their wall where there was a fire, for 15% of a level. Or go collect 20 sand, and smelt them into glass, for 20% of a level.
(Why all the hate, since when did creativity have to deal with so much negativity? If you don't personally like something, just ignore it.)

But, but, but, they already have Beds. You can just suicide in the Dream if you don't like Dreams.
That's still a nuisance to do.

Dreams have been suggested many times before, a lot of the old members can testify to that. The truth is, that we don't need a dream world, and we really don't need a mini game.
This serves no need to minecraft. I feel as if some people suggest things just because it can be suggested, and if it was by a 0.001% chance to be added, they could walk around saying, "See that? My idea."
Can I quote you on that? People quit the game from a lack of fresh creativity or general boredom. No new ideas of stuff to build, or no interesting terrains to turn into forts/castles/towns. A Dream would inspire people, maybe it was an interesting cliff design, or an interesting farm they had to blow up, or a confusing maze they needed to go through to get home. Maybe they were put in a Dream tunnel, with 20 torches and an Iron Pick, and had to brave the darkness in the hopes of getting a Diamond vein, (which would be there, because every Dream Goal is programmed to be achievable). Inspiring. Wondrous. Or am I the only one left that wants to see something amazing. Dreams can be amazing, think of the possibilities. Anything can happen in a Dream.

As you said, people get bored of things, what makes you think your idea is an exception? The whole point of Minecraft is that you do whatever you want, and if that isn't enough for some people, fine. You shouldn't add random features that don't fit in minecraft in an attempt to stop people from quitting the game. It has no place in Minecraft because there is an objective in the dreams, and that contradicts what Minecraft is all about.

Oh man, honestly? You aren't exactly a pro in discussing game design. These dreams won't magically "bring back the life" in Minecraft.
No support, by the way. I don't want to use my bed and be forced to go in this dream world when I just want to continue my normal stuff in the daytime. The processes you have to go through in this dream world of yours sound very pointless and not that fun.
Inspiring. Wondrous. Or am I the only one left that wants to see something amazing. Dreams can be amazing, think of the possibilities. Anything can happen in a Dream.
Yes, the rest of us are just grey globs of boredom who want to keep Minecraft boring, while you are the magical light who will boost Minecraft to the stars. What's happened is that you've become so infatuated with your own idea that you won't take a step back and see the possible negatives.
There would be no benefit in completing these minigames, and it'd make it a very tedious and annoying thing to do. Sure, you can just kill yourself, but that just takes time and is very pointless.
I use a bed to end night or set spawn. Not to tiptoe through the meadows with flying pigs and pink clouds.
Hm, it could be interesting, being able to have strange things like messed up gravity that wouldn't really belong in the waking Minecraft world (despite how unrealistic the game is at times anyway).
But I wouldn't want it to be mandatory every time you slept. Maybe you could drink a special sleeping potion to enter the dream world when you went to sleep, and there would be some nice rewards?
Maybe someone could make a mod of it (I'm not certain this would be added to the vanilla game).
Firstly, this has been suggested so many times before. Use the search bar.
Secondly, no support. This is completely silly. It's clearly only going to please very few people and irk the majority, so it's fair to say this won't be added into Minecraft. If you really must have it, let me recommend learning to code java, etc and make a mod.
