Ok, a lot of minecrafters (not saying all) want new biomes and world gen. I don't expect any of this stuff to be added to the game, I'm pretty much typing this for the fun of it. So, here are my ideas. Let me know any downsides to to my ideas in the replies. (PS: I am an OTter that never really strays to the suggestions forums, so don't expect me to be the best at this.)
Volcanoes
So, we got our mountains, and our hills, and out cliffs, why not volcanoes? Y'know, big mountainy things with lava in 'em. The volcanoes would be fairly rare, there's this mod out there that adds volcanoes but they're way to common, it just kills the effect.
They would preferably be made out of stone, or possible some other type of rock that could be added along with the addition of said volcanoes. Perhaps even bloody netherack, I don't really care what it's made of.
The Pipmaster said that it would be cool if there were ores in the volcanoes, and streams of lava coming out of them. Volcano quartz, anyone?
Downsides:
Would be hard to code in properly, and might not look good if they did a bad job. It would also be a bit of a pain texturing and coding in a new block for it to be made of.
Icebergs
How about we have random icebergs in the water near snowy biomes? That would be kinda cool, though they're isn't really much of a point to it. However I guess you could see them in the ocean when you're in your boat to signal when you're near a snowy biome.
The Pipmaster stated that these would be fun if they were really huge, so you could build awesome sauce structures on them. Imagine a town in the ocean made out of building siting on icebergs connected up to each over with bridges
Downsides:
You could bump into them if you were on tiny render distance, I guess, but I guess that's pretty much every downside of a squid lol.
Floating Islands
Are floating island over-suggested? Apparently volcanoes are. Anyways, they would just be awesome floating islands of floaty awesomeness. I don't really know what to write here lol. Perhaps they could have new trees or mobs on 'em. I just thin they'd be cool to come across every now and then.
1. This is basically Extreme Hills with lava at the top. If surface lava lakes didn't already exist, this might actually be worth implementing.
2. In one of the recent snapshots, Mojang took rivers and "oases" out of desert biomes. You are proposing removing a feature Mojang just added, which is unlikely. Removing natural water was not a "horse saddle" decision. Dry deserts are here to stay.
3. If they're pointless, why do you care?
Also, if you're just typing for the fun of it (with suggestions people have already thought about), then how can you expect anyone to care or take you seriously.

Not sure about volcanoes. On the one hand, they could be interesting to discover, and we don't really have mountains, so they should at least do that first. On the other, if they were made completely out of stone with lava at the top, they would be pretty boring. Perhaps there could be lava rivers running down the side? Or tons of different ores in the volcano, inside and out? Possibly also caves inside with lava streams at the bottom.
Like has been said, no oasis.
Icebergs would be a fun feature. Especially if they were really huge, and you could build a big scary snow mansion on top and feel awesome about yourself

Did they change the signature limit, or is it just me?
I'm going to have some fun with this!
I don't think volcanoes would be a good idea. They could be an eyesore building near them.
The issue with people's idea for the game is they always say it "should be rare." There's no point in something being rare if you're never going to encounter it. It's like the witch's hut. You rarely see or even hear anything about them or witches anymore.
I'm just saying that it shouldn't be to common. Image seeing volcanoes everywhere you went, you may as well make villages really common xD Also, people have made volcanoes before and they've looked pretty damn cool.

The lava streams idea sounds pretty neat, also, ores in the volcano would be awesome Perhaps there could be an overworld version of quartz found in them (stone w/ nether quartz in it) that would cool.

1. But they would be made out of stone or something, to give it a nice effect.
2. I probably remove this idea.
3. I just wanted to know what you guys thought about it
