As we all know from dungeons, all the chests have mixed up loots. I was thinking we could change up the chests to mark what they have!
The Type of Chests
Random Chests: 75% (suggested by Badprenup) chance of spawning. It is your normal chest, has no marking.
Material Chests: 35% chance of spawning. gives you seeds, iron, and all your materials you get from chests. Has a diamond on top to mark it.
Tools Chests: 25% chance of spawning. Will give you from stone to diamond tools. Has a pickaxe on top.
Weapons Chest: 25% chance of spawning. Will give you from stone to diamond weapons. Maybe a bow and 1 - 10 arrows.
Combined Chest: 10% chance of spawning. Will give you iron to diamond tools and weapons. 1 - 2 bows, and 11 - 25 arrows. Has a pickaxe and sword on top.
Getting the Chests
You may mine these chests like normal chests. You can use these as markers on chests for tools and such.
Why
Dungeon loots are always the same. Iron, diamond sometimes, saddle, enchanted books and stuff. We need new types. You just ran out of your sword and pick in a stronghold? Oh yes! A mixed chest full of the things I need instead of useless redstone and iron!
What's wrong with just one type of chest that can have anything it - like how it is now? Also, having seeds appear in chests would be so pointless. Nevermind, you meant pumpkin and melon seeds.
I like the general idea but I don't see a reason to mark them depending on the type. I think it would work better if the game generates a chest, chooses the type, and then puts items in it based on the type chosen. I think the regular Chest should have a higher chance though, around 70-80%

There isn't anything wrong with it, but it would make a little more sense, after all most people try and organize their stuff so it makes sense that whoever made the dungeons did as well. Also, it leads to a bit more variety. Right now every chest feels similar because the random assortment of items is roughly the same every time. I think it would be refreshing to find a chest that has a few odds and ends and then a chest that only has ore in it. Nothing wrong with mixing it up.

Curse PremiumYou could individually change the items that could spawn in certain structures. But honestly, I don't see this ever being implemented.
