I have seen several mods available for terrain generation, but as a sandbox game, it seems only appropriate that Minecraft should have a reasonably detailed native generator configuration. One particularly useful addition would be to change ground and sea level to make better use of the full 255 block altitudes. A user might also want to change biome creation rates, ore richness, or cave frequency. Below is my starting example, so feel free to add items to the list! There should, of course, be a "Default" button to reset all the values.
This isn't making it realistic at all, this just adds in more control over generating worlds. Support.
Ever seen a thread called "When did the terrain become BORING" What if they did all the terrain improvements from there.
Just go to the Discussion or google it. It isn't hard to find it
Look at this thread here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1381426-how-terrain-could-be-improved/
It goes onto explain the biome placement. How would this suggestion work out with all the other terrain improvement people are offering

So let me get this straight, first off you don't read the suggestion and instead make a post asking if it is a realistic suggestion, then you try to argue against it by saying it should take into account the items from another suggestion? First off, just read the damn Op, it;s not hard and if you aren't an idiot you should understand easily that the suggestion is not realistic. Second off, unless the suggestion you sent gets added to the game before his, he doesn't have to take it into an account in his suggestion as until then it isn't a part of Vanilla Minecraft. So if you are going to argue against a suggestion then make sure you actually have half a brain first, mhkay?

You cannot take into account all the other suggestions. No, not all suggestions work together, but nor do all mods. It's up to Mojang to decide what to do.

I have discovered a truly remarkable proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain.

My idea would allow the user more control over generation. It would not necessarily change the generation code, though it may be beneficial to revise it. What this would do is spit out variables that are then used by the engine to create new terrain as a predictable alternative to seeds. At the same time, it allows modifications such as sea level changes that are not currently supported. If left at default values, a player wouldn't even notice there had been a change to the engine.
Also, I've seen some people wanting single-biome maps. That would be possible by simply setting all other biome frequencies to zero.
There might also be a village frequency controller, such as
[None/Uncommon/Default/Common/Prolific].
Anyway, I like the idea for higher elevation terrain generation and increased caves. That could lead to some incredible underground creations. But can you clarify the difference between sea level and max terrain elevation? How would one override the other, and so on? This doesn't really make sense to me. In vanilla minecraft, sea level is 64, and max terrain elevation is 128, or something?
What would happen if you made sea level lower than the ground? Would the ground override the ocean, or vice versa?
