The way the game currently works is that when you sleep, no matter what, it will be sunny the next day.
This doesn't work for me, because I'm very particular to sleep every night, so I never get rain.
One way to fix this would be to allow the day to start with rain. However, I suspect that this was disallowed on purpose, so that new players wouldn't start a world in a rainstorm. (As much fun as that would be for me, it would be a drastic change to that first encounter with Minecraft, so I'm cool with leaving it alone.) Another reason is that rain is annoying to a lot of players, so the current configuration gives players a small amount of control over the rain.
Another possible solution is to have a chance of rain in the morning if you sleep in a swamp or jungle biome.
Fortunately for us, the game already has some rainfall numbers. Mostly these are just used for colouring the foliage, but these could be used as a multiplier to determine whether the morning after sleeping will be rainy or sunny.
Edit: I forgot about multiplayer. If multiple players sleep in different biomes, then the game would simply take an average of all the players' locations, and calculates chance of rain based on the average.
Huh, that's interesting. I would've thought that the Jungle or Swamp would have been most likely to be rainy. That's cool that when you sleep it will be almost positive to wake up to a sunrise.
Why only certain biomes, why not chance based off the regular chance of precipitation? If the first day of a world was always sunny, I wouldn't see a problem with it. But I am one of those people that are ambivalent about rain, so I suppose my response is to be expected.

I don't know for certain, but I think they made it not work that way on purpose. Mojang wanted players to be able to expect a guaranteed sunny morning after sleeping in a bed. I think that's reasonable for the drier biomes, but not swamps/jungles/mushroomeries.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.

All right, that makes sense. I support, as I always assumed this could already occur.
I like the general concept of this. Maybe one thing to prevent people from waking up to a storm is if you sleep during rain, it automatically sets the chance for rain in the morning to 0? I usually only skip nights if I have absolutely nothing to do or it rains, so sleeping during rain and waking up to it would be annoying.
I would almost say that the weather system should be slightly overhauled and actually give us a chance of rain starting at 4 points throughout the day based on past weather. I might actually write a thread on that if I can get the numbers correct in my head.

These numbers are already found in the code:
Desert 0.0
Hills 0.3
Plains: 0.4
Forest 0.8
Taiga 0.8
Swamp 0.9
Jungle 0.9
Mushroom Island 1.0
