NOTE: I didn't find any live topics concerning this suggestion. If I overlooked one and "stole" your idea I am more than happy to cancel my thread.
This simple enchantment grants a very small amount of health to the wielder of the weapon. The health given depends only upon the level of the enchantment itself and how much damage is actually dealt to a target. You cannot absorb more health or health equal to the damage of your attack.
EXCEPTION: You cannot absorb more health than the target has remaining. If you hit a target with only half a heart of health left you only recieve the half a heart of health.
Level 1: Costs fifteen levels. Swords and axes enchanted with "Vampirism" have a ten percent chance to give the wielder a heart of health.
Level 2: Costs 20 levels. Swords and axes enchanted with "Vampirism" have a fifteen percent chance to give the wielder a heart of health.
Level 3: Costs 30 levels. Swords enchanted with "Vampirism" have a twenty percent chance to give the wielder a heart of health.
Why not bows?
If you're fighting from a distance than chances are that you don't need to absorb health.
Balancing: The absorb health enchantment cannot be co-enchanted with a weapon that has knockback (or vice versa). This is because the health absorbed by the attack cannot travel accross the distance. Also, each time health is absorbed the sword loses a durabilty more than it normally would. If no health is absorbed durability is only lost for hitting the target.
I like the idea, although it needs some balancing. If you can take up to 1.5 hearts per hit, and it ignores armor, thats like a piercing affect that drains health. for 1.5 hearts per hit, you could be literally invincible if you had full diamond armor. Sorry, but this is a bit to OP for support.

Alright, I'll balance it out as best as I can. Thank you for the honest feedback.
You can't spam hit monsters. They are briefly invinsible after each time they take damage.
Uhhhhh... Yes, you can spam hit monsters. That brief invincibility doesn't mean ****. You can still just hit mobs with your sword over and over, therefore getting that free health.

Yes, that's a good idea.

That's actually a great idea, thank you.
No Support.
It's only a chance to get health back, also weapons take an extra damage to their durability and they can't be co-enchanted with knockback.
Thank you for your feedback.
And I'd rather eat an apple made out of butter than gold. The latter might hurt my teeth.
Feel free to send me requests if you want me to play on any maps you've made.
