Because people wanted it harder, and now people see what harder means. Now you have to actually lean how to fight and not just swing around recklessly. If you want to play casually, play on peaceful.
You've said you want to play casually. Murdering things left and right isn't casual, so play on peaceful. Easy is mainly for beginners and people who want to get by easily but still want mob items. Normal is just what is sounds like, normal difficulty. And hard is difficult. I think it's perfect the way it is.
It entirely depends on player skill level too. I usually play on Normal and I think it is pretty easy. So just because you think it is hard on all difficulties doesn't mean everyone does.

I think this is good idea. Some of recent mob buffs are not depending on difficulty.

True, but I wouldn't mind seeing these kinds of things be based on difficulty, and they wouldn't have to make the game easier. If easy became easier, hard a bit harder, and normal the same, it would be fine by me. Or perhaps normal and hard could keep these mechanics, but easy could have them slightly lessened. I've always thought differing difficulties should offer more than just increased damages done by enemies.
So if it were done in a certain way, I would like this idea quite a bit.
can the devs make the following depend the difficulty? like...
1. zombies spawning more zombies when hit or killed
2. how fast skeletons shoot
3. natural regeneration
4. golden apple and potion buffs
5. overall mob difficulty
6. anything else they have nerfed or buffed
I don't want to sound ungrateful, but what about the people who like to just play casually?
Peaceful = no challenge
Easy = Easy
Medium = Medium
Hard = Hard
It doesn't make sense if its hard no matter what.
