In minecraft 1.5 hoppers have been introduced, which allowes huge amount of item transportation capabilities. But there is one catch - they cannot move up. So I thought, what if you can have a hopper pointing up instead of down?
So my idea is this: you craft it like this: (reverse of normal hopper)
also, It cannot pick up items on top of it, but can move items upwards, left, right, front, back but not downward (thats what normal hoppers are for.) Besides all that, it has exactly the same properties as a normal hopper, redstone wise and other things as well.
I think it would be better if you could just place the default hopper upside down.

Dinnerbone has already said this will not happen because he doesn't want to fully automate item movement with a single block, instead wanting people to work with Storage Minecarts to go up, and Hoppers to go sideways and down. I'll look for a tweet that cites that.
