I love the beach in Minecraft, but I find it kind of useless at the moment other than for good looks, so here are some of my suggestions to make the beach better.
Firstly, I think we should add palm trees. Palm tree logs would be a model instead of a block, and it would be about the size of a fence post, other than the size of regular logs, and it would spawn towards the back of the beach.
It would also have a texture similar to the jungle tree logs.
The leaves of the palm trees would also be models instead of blocks, and they would look a lot like ferns. These leaves would also be used as saplings to plant the trees for harvest, but they have to be grown on sand.
Uses of the palm tree.
Decoration
Lamp posts that don't connect to walls, so you can have a lamp post close against a wall without it looking so weird.
It also, unlike fences, would be one block tall instead of 1 1/2, so you can decorate a perimeter of a building without not being able to jump it.
As for the pineapples, they would spawn on the palm trees in the fashion that cocoa spawns on jungle trees. They would also be models similar to cocoa beans, but wouldn't take as long to cut down. They would need to be sliced before they could be eaten, and that would be done by simply placing a whole pineapple into the crafting interface, and you would receive 4 sliced pineapples and two pineapples seeds. These pineapples would give give back 3 hunger bars, and would have the saturation of a pumpkin pie.
To farm these pineapples, one would have to collect palm tree logs, and then place them to where a pineapple seed could be placed on it. Once the seed was placed on the tree, the pineapples would go through 3 stages of maturity. If any of these stages, other than the last stage, of maturity is interrupted by a player breaking it, being blown up, log it is being grown on is broken, etc., a pineapple seed will drop and the process will have to be started all over.
Of course for this to work, the biome would need to be quite a bit bigger so it could fit all the trees, so that would also be another implementation.

I think that this is a kinda good idea. Just think about how small beaches are though. Now put several palm trees, and pineapple plants. It wouldn't work. Before some of these would be added, the beach biome would need to be a lot bigger.

Also, instead of an additional seed item, shouldn't it be the entire pineapple itself which is the seed, no?
Yes, but once again, I changed it for the better, because it wouldn't make sense to take a fully grown pineapple and place it on a tree. It wouldn't grow, so therefore there would be no product.

Curse PremiumActually they grow on plants int he ground, but that would be extremely weird to have tentacles sprouting from the ground holding pineapples, or at least they would look like tentacles, so I chose the next best thing
Added that in, thanks for feedback!
