Just a thought I had. What if we had the ability to link two or more crafting tables together to create a larger space for crafting? This would work like a chest, but on two directions at once. There would be a limit of 3x3 Crafting tables - after that, you can't place any more adjacent to each other. Here are some examples:
A 2x1 configuration:
rexults in a 6x3 crafting space:
As an example of the possible implications, you can finally craft, say, a musket, via only 1 recipe as so:
:Flint and Steel:
Here is the result of a maximum size crafting table:
How can this be balanced? I'm not sure myself, but I feel the best way to go about this is the use of a Nether Star. If you think about it, having even two crafting benches fused together has enormous implications, could you imagine a 3x3 workbench?
What do you think?

We would need a lot more items that are more advanced for this.
Could work.

I hate people who complain. I hate spiders. I hate people who own an Xbox One. I hate people who like sandbox games. I hate people who like first person shooters. I hate people who like explosions. I hate people who like video games. I hate people who are hateful. I hate people that don't like spam. I hate people who like cake. I hate people who type in proper grammar and spell words properly on the internet. I hate hypocrites.
I don't see any reason to support this when there are no uses for it. I do see the potential, but I would be much more inclined to favor this suggestion if it was part of a larger suggestion that required more crafting space, not just for the sake of a bigger grid. You say linked crafting grids have "enormous implications", but I really can't see any, as you can't do anything with it.
I like the idea itself, but I don't think that crafting tables should be linked so easily, and a nether star seems like far too rare of an item to be used. Why should being able to craft a musket (to use your example) require so much time? I would rather see tiered crafting tables, or something of the sort.
I hope you see where I'm coming from with this; I just don't think that it merits a change without being a part of a much larger idea.
It looks like no one would use even I, because they're no items to with that upgraded crafting table. I mean only musket? maybe we can stay on the normal crafting way
We can already do many things with a 3x3 grid. But if ever we will expand that one day, I find 6x3 to be the most reasonable expansion, if what we have isn't.
