We have a boss for the End. We have a boss for the Nether (though it can and most likely will be spawned in the Overworld). At this point, why not have a boss for all dimensions? Why not have...
The Over-boss
A suggestion thread by ThePipmaster
Now, before we get too far into the subject of cheesy opening titles and sub-titles, let's get to the point of this thread, shall we?
I. The Spawn of the Over-boss
The Over-boss should undoubtedly be built, just like the Wither. Why, you might ask? Because of two reasons, both of which go for the Wither as well:
1. If you were to look for the boss mob in its respective dimension then there is a fairly large chance (if it only spawns once per world) that you would never, ever, EVER find it. Nobody wants that, right?
2. While adventuring in a dimension with a boss, if it were to spawn naturally then you could potentially stumble upon it unprepared, and while it would squished you like a bug you shake your head and scream at Jeb. Am I not right?
In case anyone needs (or wants) to know, the Ender Dragon is not built because of the size of the End; upon finding an Ender Portal you know exactly what lies immediately beyond, and don't have to either worry about it sneaking up on you or you not being able to find it.
II. Ideas for the Over-boss
I have had several ideas for what the Over-boss should look like and what its abilities should be. If you have any ideas yourself, please post below!
II.a. The Kraken
Now, it wouldn't actually be the Kraken, but that's somewhere in the vicinity of what it would look like. This idea came to me upon thinking that Minecraft needed more water mobs.
The thought that I came up with is that you could build the structure on land (unsure of what structure) and upon completion, a round-ish (in other words, natural looking) tube of water would appear and go all the way down to bedrock (though this is probably not the best way to do this because of the fact that you could forfeit any valuables still in the ground). In the tube of water would be the Over-boss, a huge squid-looking mob that could grab you with it's tentacles and throw you in the air. It would be stationary, because who wants a giant squid randomly walking around their Minecraft world (you could possibly even use this as a death sentence for greifers on servers )?
II.b. The Giant
We all know about the mob that was once in the game known as the Giant, right? Well, in case you didn't: http://www.minecraft....net/wiki/Giant
My idea is re-implement them as the Over-boss.
I thought that a good way to spawn them (seeing as how powerful they are) would be 4 obsidian and a zombie head, just like an Iron Golem. Of course, that would require all existing mob heads (or *sigh* only zombie heads) to rarely drop from their respective mob. But no one's going to argue with that, right (go ahead and prove me wrong if you want)?
And that would spawn a Giant. Except that it would act like a zombie...
II.c. The egg
Most of this idea is unclear. This would actually use a crafting recipe. The thought is that you could craft a Nether Star and the Dragon Egg together to get an egg that, when hatched (or placed, or whatever) would spawn the Over-boss. No other information.
III. Your ideas
This is the section where all of your ideas go.
III.a. The Pig
By Snuffers
i have another idea.
how about you get a carrot, craft it with 8 diamond blocks, then feed it to a pig, which will spawn some kind of super pig boss? and then when it dies, nearly 500 pigs fall from the sky along with a lot of experience.
im not really sure how it would fight though
A few ideas of mine to add to this: 1. Maybe a golden carrot with only 8 diamonds? Not blocks. Or maybe 1 diamond block and 3 diamonds... 2. Nearly 500 pigs is a lot of pigs. Those who do not have good computers would lag (even if you do you probably would) and possibly crash the game. Although a giant pig spawning pig minions would be hilarious...

I like the idea of an Overworld boss, especially the Kraken. But the Spawn Egg is not acceptable. If you just so happen to drop your Dragon Egg in lava, no more Overworld boss. Plus, you can only kill it once (Ender Dragon is acceptable, but a man-made creation isn't.). Change the egg, and I give support.

Hi! I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!
I like the idea a lot of a new boss into the game. I do think that if added it should not be buildable. I think that a buildable boss should only be the Wither. I think that if a new boss was added, into the overworld, that it should be found in a new generated structure, like a new kind of dungeon, or a different type of stronghold.

The problem is stated above, especially if it only spawns once per world.
I meant that you list many things. and some of them are vague.
Suggestion forum is meant to complete ideas not for "add this OR that OR that OR you can tell your own ideas" threads.
Your ideas are good but I think this thread may be locked.

I'm going to have some fun with this!
My take on the whole "Overworld Boss" idea is that while a giant would be fun, it seems to lack the drama that the Wither and the Ender Dragon have in spades. I feel that the giant would REALLY have to be something special in order to warrant its' placement back into the game. Given the specs you're talking about as far as making the beast goes, it would have to be a really extraordinary boss to be implemented. The Kraken, on the other hand, would be fantastic. I actually can't think of anything I'd like to see MORE than a Kraken in Minecraft, other than... Never mind, I've got nothing. I think a Kraken would be amazing.
Am I the only one thinking that 30% of the time, when you make an Iron Golem, It will be a hostile mob? That would be so sweet. Just making the Iron Golem not knowing if it would, or would not turn into a hmm...what should I call it? Ah, yes. "Demon Golem". Quote me if you agree!
I do agree about the Giant. Maybe he could actually jump half his height (he's 12 blocks tall) and a possible small explosion when he lands? And maybe a better model and texture, for example he could have joints and do some big slam attack (not just a bit taken from hippomaster21's Mutant Creatures mod :P)...
Also he's currently the least detailed mob in the game, as his model is 6 times bigger than that of a normal zombie's, so he could use a more high-def texture.
Am I the only one thinking that 30% of the time...
Hmm, Iron Golems do seem a bit over-powered. But their name shouldn't change, they should just start attacking you...
And it should probably be more like 15% of the time.

That would be kind of funny, but I doubt Mojang would add that.
I'll see if I can't improve your idea a bit then add it.
