Something that bugged me while making an Adventure Map, i couldn't find any way to create doors that would only open if you had an certain item or place a block on a certain location.
Note, some of this might have been suggested already but i did not find anything while searching:
Item locks A block type that can be set to detect an specific item, and if then right clicked on with that item, it would emitt an redstone signal, to for example open a seacret pathway. If set to detect an item with an specific name, only an item with that same name will activate it.
Code locks A plate type block placed on walls (simmilar to Lever and Button) that can be set a password by someone in Creative mode, and when the right password has been parsed by someone not creative, will emitt an redstone signal. Usefull for making doors where the player would have to find an password somewhere to enter. And easier and more compact than the Lever Lock system.
Block detector Works like an pressureplate but instead of detecting items or entities, it emitts an redstone signal when a choosen block is placed onto it. Like an pressureplate, but for blocks.

So what do you think? Sounds like an good idea?
There is a way. My friend actually created a way that requires a specific block ID (He uses maps) and it uses hoppers to make sure that it's the right block ID. So there are ways, it just takes some looking into and some time, unless you use MCedit or worldedit.
This has already been done and it is quite simple to do. If I am correct, you can look up: MineCraft Item Locks, Code Locks, etc. Actually, depending on how good you can do with MineCraft, you can make this easily with Redstone systems.

An easier way would be nice though.
A wild signature appears!
Did they change the signature limit, or is it just me?
I'm going to have some fun with this!
