okay... so i recently made my first trip to the nether WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :l not a big deal right? and i was thinking of new dimension ideas... here's the one i came up with (along with a few new ideas)
1. a dimension with a significantly improved spawn rate for villages BUT the blacksmith chest has a lower chance to give iron ingots.also replace the generic villager with a new villager class
1 pt 2. they could add a miner class to the villagers (miners only spawn in the new dimension) miners carry pickaxes and occasionally pick up blocks (similar to the endermen, except miners can only pick up stone based blocks) miners looks like reg. villagers except they have a headlamp on (see the next suggestion)
2. a new item to be crafted
headlamp crafting recipe (H = helmet G= glass T=torch I = iron ingot)
PT 2: creating the headlamp
(HL = headlamp H= helmet)
[ ] [ ] [ ]
[ H] [HL] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ]
headlamps give you the light of a torch, but allow it to be mobile. headlamps only work in the dimension with the miners. headlamps wear out after about 6 days (in game)
when headlamps wear out you get a empty headlamp (just put the empty headlamp and a torch in a crafting table to refill)
i'm completely open to criticism and even hate... because it helps me refine my ideas. also remember that i haven't really finished this idea YET so some of the details might be missing right now
UPDATE:
PROS: swamps would spawn more frequently and there would be small bonuses like grass having a higher chance to drop seeds, possibly a new type of wood/ stone which could be used to make new tool classes and armor from, cows and pigs would spawn a little more frequently, there is a VERY rare chance of a butcher shop spawning in villages (instead of iron and gold there would be uncooked meats)
CONS: there would be little to no icy forests (can't remember the name sorry) the farms from the villages would be smaller if not completely gone, and iron golems cannot spawn in this new world
mobs would spawn in bigger groups and would most likely be boosted in some way, to give "hardened" players a challenge but not be too hard to fight
zombies: the basic monster of this dimension they're speed would be amplified X2 and they would have a higher chance to spawn with armor on
skeletons: another mob with a high spawn rate, these monsters would spawn in groups of two or three, have a higher chance to be a spider jockey, AND fire arrows X2 as far
spiders: i don't want to change these too much but they would move slightly faster and have a higher chance to drop string in larger ammounts BUT they would also have higher health
creepers: these are fairly common but the only thing a would like to change is that they move 1 1/2 times as fast, making them a challenge but not a death sentence
steve: in addition to the mobs steve would acquire a slightly faster waking speed and gain the ability to jump one block higher. tell me what you think
You could of just said "I don't like it".
Though this is extremely vague, I think it would have some potential if you made some changes and added way more detail.

How would this dimension be different from the overworld?

So it would be an overworld, with new wood and higher amount of peaceful animals. more villages but less farms, And no butcher? Why more swamps and less Icy forests?

Yes, I could have said that. But I also thought it was a dumb dimension, so I said that.
the icy forests house wolves and in addition to the iron golems not spawning there would be an increased amount of mobs also because icy forests are fairly common... swamps are not, so it would be a reversed effect of the overworld. but like i said i haven't gotten all the details figured out yet
Sounds like a pretty bad dimension idea. It all comes down to it being the Overworld, but with some slight alterations. Take a look at the 3 dimensions we have now, and note how original and unique they are compared to each other.

May I ask why you're responding to me first, then actually quoting me after that? That completely confused me the first time. Anyway, you're at the point of no return. Everything you've given us so far is just the Overworld, but with slight changes. Adding more ideas at this point will change nothing now.
Also, your headlamp idea is an automatic no-go, because dynamic lighting + Minecraft = not really. You're better off starting something new altogether with 100% originality for a dimension. There's no reason to add a new dimension to the game just to have some new villagers and the same mobs but with changed up stats. It just doesn't work that way.
1. a dimension with a significantly improved spawn rate for villages BUT the blacksmith chest has a lower chance to give iron ingots.also replace the generic villager with a new villager class
I don't think it's necessary, and just for more villagers and alternate stats it's quite pointless.

The idea of a Miner villager is something I have seen before, like other villagers, I don't think they should actually build/remove/destroy etc. I am all for new types of villagers, but my first choice is a villager that fights/defends the village, because most villages have no means of surviving on their own. Also the "generic villager" is not present in the game, the generic villager is the green robed one that is not implemented in game.
a new item to be crafted headlamp crafting recipe (H = helmet G= glass T=torch I = iron ingot)
There is little logic in using a torch for a lamp on a helmet. A torch works by fire, so naturally encasing what is pretty much a stick on fire inside an enclosed area, and attaching it to a helmet makes no sense. I think that the torch should be swapped out for a glowstone block. I also disagree on the amount of items required to make the lamp itself, it requires too much iron for an item that will be attached to a helmet anyways, the iron required in your recipe for the lamp is the same amount required to make a helmet. I do like the idea of having the ability to light things up without having to keep placing torches, but there may be some issues with Minecrafts lighting system. Another thing I'd like to mention is that as the lamp is attached to a helmet, it should just last as long as the helmet lasts, this keeps it from being used infinitely, and relieves us of the time-restraint.

:l i honestly don't care...... I've been trying to get ideas going and it's not f***ing easy...but i try :] so who cares?

Sense nobody has given a name to this dimension i will. I call it BSD001.
This is just a copy of the overworld. For a title called new stuff you sure don't bring anything new to the table.

Please read these two threads:

Considering there is nothing here
about the dimension other
than the fact that the villages
would spawn more
yes yes it would be a bland dimension.

as of right now i'm still working on the specs but some of it is figured out
Is this an ideal Peacefull World?
Yes, I could have said that. But I also thought it was a dumb dimension, so I said that.
Just keep it all here. No need to have two threads by the same person about the same idea. Just use the edit button.
Edit: See? Editing works just fine.

And please use more descriptive thread titles. "new stuff" is a horrible choice.

Mobile light has been suggested many times before.

Just build the darn thing already!
