It occured to me - why should you have to take stone to the crafting table, when you could just right-click on an existing block, and carve some steps out?
And what about other things? Could I left-click on logs to collect them, but right-click to chop them into planks?
I just think this sort of thing would fit the game and save us some extraneous clicking.
No. This would just involve a bunch of coding for something that most people wouldn't care too much about. If anything, I think this complicates the game by adding something completely separate form the standard crafting system. Also, right clicking is already used to place blocks.
No Support. You can carry a crafting table with you and place it the ground near where you are working to make new items. When done crafting use an axe on it to put it back into your inventory. I use this method when mining so I don't have to carry a bunch of picks.
If you forget your crafting table just make a new one.
No support. I agree with the reasons above, and I don't think the community would like it if mojang said they took away half the crafting recipes and you just had to right click.
