What if you could buy Crosses / Hoyl water from priest villagers and use them to convert one hostile mob to your side. They could have one use per cross / holy water, and be very very very expensive.
I suggested this in a different post, but it was combined with a whole bunch of other ideas and probably didn't get noticed. Plus it was a slightly different idea.
Also, it could be a religion non-specific item. Maybe an orb of power or something. Still get it from the priest though.
So we need obvious references to both Hell and Heaven in a mostly religion-neutral game?
No thanks.
The idea of converting a hostile mob to a passive one is quite redundant and quite frankly, useless. Why would you need to do that? What do you get from this besides a pet you can take around and probably accidentally kill because you thought it was hostile?
Why not make the holy water throwable, which will weaken the skeletons immensely?
I dunno, just throwing out ideas here.
But I don't think it makes sense that when you use holy water or crosses on a mob that it will put them on your side.
I do think that maybe that would be cool. What if you get a "Blessed Bone" after you kill a skeleton weakened by holy water? Then if you collect enough Blessed Bones you could create a "Holy Skeleton" that is on your side.
I'm fairly certain Notch and Jeb have already stated hostile mobs will not be tameable ever. Any mobs that would be tameable would be specially made for the event, like horses, wolves, or cats.
Though holy water as a splash-damage weapon against undead might work in a DnD/Fantasy RPG mod, but probably not Vanilla.
No no no no, and no. No. Never. Hostile mobs should never ever be tame-able, never. It's...no. Also, I would imagine there would be a lot of work reprogramming their behavior for when they're tamed.
No.
Holy Water? You mean potion of Weakness? WE ALREADY HAVE POTIONS. USE THEM. And, the game would be too easy to turn Hostile mobs on to your side. Build an Iron Golem or something.
