WARNING AGAINST SPAM: YES I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN THOUGHT OF A LOT, HOW EVER THE THREAD CLOSEST TO TODAY'S DATE IS FROM '11 AND PROBABLY PASS-DUE. SO UNLESS YOU HAVE A LINK FROM AT LEAST AUGUST '12(1.3.2) DO NOT TELL ME IT'S A OVER USED SUGGESTION.
Hi guys, lately I been playing survival with my friends on servers and we all agree that we need sponges, how ever the admin will not let our rank have them only ranks above us (donors, admins, staff of the sorts) because it's creative only. How ever that being said there also needs to be a new tree type cause with my designing i need a wood in between two woods, oak and spruce, I rarely if ever use jungle and birch is fine. This being said, the cork trees can be a 'color' between oak and spruce's 'color'.
So the main thing about cork trees:
New recipes
Old Items available in survival
New Items
But how? Well with cork you can create sponges hopefully, so that's a new craft recipe none the less a item from creative now in survival. Also with cork you can create corks for bottles, such for potions..
That being said with a Cork Tree you have a new door to new recipes for sponge and if necessary bottles plus the nice bonus of sponges in survival with out hacking or cheating.
[Nice fact, cork trees are a type of oak wood so that being said a new block of cork can be created as a slither over the logs of a tree.]
I wouldn't mind having a Sponge Block if it actually absorbs water. Doing any kind of water work that requires the removal of a lot of source blocks takes a ton of time and resources to do.
I'm also with TheRealAD2011 on keeping alcohol out of the game. Sure the idea around alcohol is different in many different countries, particularly ones in Europe compared to the US, but it can just as easily be called Juice and not give the nausea affect.
I'm against using corks for bottles for potions, it wasn't really stated how that would work but it is partially mentioned, but I can't see a reason to add it.

These ideas are not that bad, I support all but the wine, because Minecraft is a kid's game and I don't want to see Alcohol in a kids game,
Plus you can post suggestions that have been posted before, but as long as their not exactly the same thing or their extremely alike to one another
yeah the wine was just a example that could turn into some thing else-though grapes would be nice for food >v
Also as stated unilegger, cork can be used for many things, probably even bulliten boards (how2spell?)
Badprenup, if you look at a glass bottle from the game the little brown part, thats a cork, also used as a cap.
WINE REMOVED, IF ANY BITS ARE STILL LEFT PLEASE PM.

Yeah I know that, I just think the potions as they currently exist are damn near perfect. Sure there are some missing potions I would want to see but I wouldn't want to have to do anything extra like add cork to the recipe for glass bottle.

Not much use for sponges... They just look like cheese...
I also do not think cork would make sponges; one is a natural animal, the other is a type of wood. One sucks up water, the other one floats. Not much similarity here.
I'd like to see sponge that actually absorbs water.
No support, though.
Many servers have sponges enabled to soak up water (normally a 2 block radius). You can go to many servers and find this, if you need a server let me know and I'll gladly give you the ip.
Don't see how these ideas would be bad
What would the cork tree look like?
I've been trying to texture lately, when I finish it I'll post the image but right now with only 2 days if that left of school I can't currently-that's saying something/

Sponges help clear up water (yay no flooding!), none the less if you're making a awesome waterfall but don't want to dig up ground sponges are great...Also, this would give the Minecraft community the ability to create mods around sponges-or even the creators them selves can create new uses of it. Also, I do think some sponges are made out of corks...how ever manipulated. Corks both suck up water and float (density) even if its the most filled thing with water in your bathtub.
Any uses for sponges? Like preventing fall damage like water.
As been said many times juust now, servers normally have sponges enabled to soak up water, however sponges can change-since sponges are (Currently) just a creative thing-nothing much at all. They can also be used for "pixel art" (pssh it's block art people but okay). Seeing how this is-Getting cork and sponges would be nice all around seeing that it would enable new things-if not then fine with me. But the fact of probably getting a new type of wood-or even block is nice.
(lets not forget cork can create bulletin boards in real life so hint hint write on separate papers and create thumb tacts..)

Sorry for forgetting to quote your post ;v;
It would be rather simple really...I've mentioned that cork does/can grow on oak trees. So you're going to go out side-and bam-there's your cork. Also I do see how it is to you-a pointless step how ever if you're surviving by your self and needed to cap up a bottle you'd find some thing to do it-i don't think glass is cork no? Also minecraft is some what known for pointless steps in creation such as not being able to stack milk buckets when you make cakes...(Okay so I'll go make us some cakes, takes liek 4 minutes to do them seeing how you have to put the buckets of milk in, create it, take out the buckets, repeat, repeat)
UPDATE: I sneaked a bit and finished the texture, how ever there's two of them and since the other is on a different computer i have to wait a day or two to post that one.

Oh, and no to the wine. Kids play this game, let's not ruin the E rating of the game.
