I was just thinking of something similar to this, but yours looks way cooler than mine! I really like your models.
I think they should do less damage, or maybe just attack more slowly, but inflict MAGIC damage which ignores armor.
Also, it would be neat if they could only be hurt by enchanted weapons, potions or other sources of magic damage.
Since that would make them fairly challenging, I also think they should only spawn regularly in Strongholds; rarely in swamps and abandoned mineshafts (but NOT in caverns). Since I think Strongholds should be the main haunted place in the game, I didn't support adding haunted houses, although that's a pretty neat idea, too. I'm thinking more of vanilla minecraft, which I think ghosts should definitely be added to. It would make Strongholds really creepy, always worried something might come out of a random wall (or floor) and attack you. Ever played Dark Souls? There's a level like that and it's quite nerve-wracking when you don't know where they spawn yet.
As for moving through walls, YES! Only one block thick? I think it would be cool if they could move through any number of blocks (or at least more than one), but maybe have a certain kind of block be impenetrable to them (obsidian or something). Then you could make ghost-proof houses
I like the concept of the mob however not the actual mob. A ghost is sort of clique; why not a flying jellyfish or something? Or maybe a really jellyfish in water?
I don't really see the purpose of a mob which is really rare and its main use being to craft translucent slabs and bonemeal...
Also, translucent blocks don't really work well.
All in all, a solid idea but needs more work.
What is the purpose of a witch?
It is rare and drops common items.
Never seen anyone asks about witches on my server after several months as it serves no purpose.
Luckily I was able to add it into the Mob Arena minigame to make use of it.
Ghosts seem like a neat idea and even if rare it can still be used in adventure stories and minigames.

Anyways, support! Great idea.
Just wanted to add that I only half-supported ghosts interacting with switches and the like because they would be so rare, like witches, that I can't see myself ever experiencing it in-game. It's a cool concept, though, and I don't see any downside to implementing it.
Btw, have you actually made this mod/mob, or is it just a concept? If you've made it, where can I get it? Thanks! This would save me the work of having to make it myself (like I could...)
I love this idea. I just don't like the going through walls part. That means if you have a house in a swamp, there really isn't anything you can do you protect against ghosts.
It could be that they can't go through hard blocks, such as iron, diamond, obsidian, etc...

GENERATION 20: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig and add 1 to the generation.
its a bucket fill in-depth commentary on modern consumerism's over-exploitation of positive human emotion via minimalistic figures seated in a retro-aesthetic.
It's "jum bo dee es six tee for", NOT "jum bods six tee for" or "jum bo dee es six for". What the heck is a jumbod, anyway?
It's a nice idea, but I feel as if it doesn't have a place to fit in Minecraft. There isn't really any other mob in Minecraft that is a creature from folklore, so the ghost would be the only one. We've got 2 undead sure, but they're stereotypical, and there isn't any stereotypical form of a ghost that would be good for Minecraft.
It's not a bad idea, as a matter of fact, it's a great idea... but i don't feel as if it would be a vanilla feature.
What would happen if a new player would start mining and happen to make his mine right above a mineshaft? The ghost would float up, kill them and they would probably never play minecraft again, if they're a kid that is. If that new player decided to start again and make his house in a swamp, the ghost could just walk right in and kill him in a confined space, allowing him no escape, or a small chance to. Plus if your computer has a darker screen, you could have full diamond and an enchanted sword and still get killed by this thing.
No support. Too OP and could ruin some people's experience on Minecraft.

You're only insane once you believe you're insane.
Sorry dude its a Cool idea but its not something i would like for multiplayer pvp action.
Lets say you are pvping and you just won. you jump to a palce to hide and teleport to spawn. But then a ghost kills you. Its just too annoying. make them visible but just by a little bit and you have my support.

Ghost are rare so this would be extremely rare, to find a ghost right off the bat.
But even if it does ghost only can go through one block of walls. So if you wanna be paranoid, just make your structure or walls or etc with 2 blocks.
