Okay. So one of my ideas for an improved minecraft experience is traps. These would be made using wood, stone, iron, gold or diamond materials, along with bait. These would depend on the animal your trying to capture (seeds for chickens, carrots for pigs, wheat for cows, grass for sheep) They would be used very simply, just by equipping it then placing it as it it were a normal block. So the whole point of having bait would be to attract animals of course. Creatures would be attracted to it within a certain area (50 blocks maybe, subject to change). This could also be a seperate block. Made by the same recipe as coal, but instead of coal above stick, it would be the bait of choice. In the world it would be a fence post with seeds, wheat, carrots or grass on top or attached to the side.Animals would go to the bait, but the trap could potentially get them. This would be a percentage, based on the material used to make it. Wood would have the lowest chance, then stone would be a step up, then iron, etc. Maybe leave a comment about what percentage it would be. I'm thinking 35% for wood, then increased by 10 per level. Enchanting could also be done, such as Attraction *new*. This would increase the area for the baits radius. More soon to come. Support, comment, idea away.

P.S-If I took your idea, I'm really sorry but I didn't see anything in suggestions quite like this.
This idea is interesting, and seems pretty original!
Although it would take away part of the challenge of farming, and searching for animals yourself! The other problem is, these traps would not work at a great distance away from them. Since chunks unload the moment you step a few hundred blocks away, animals all freeze and are saved at the exact point where the chunk was unloaded, so walking away from your trap for a day for exploring, then coming back, would not yield any results. However, it would still work if you stayed within the area.
Some points:
-What do the different materials (wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond) do? Do they add to the count of how many times an animal can be trapped before the block breaking?
-You should edit the OP and add in whatever things you've decided upon, such as the recipe, so we can see the updated information (for future reference).
-Cheers
