Something which would be a lot of use against monsters is opening windows.
made by surrounding a trap door with 8 panes of glass, only placeable like doors (requires a solid surface underneath, like a door).
You can see through most of it except you can see a wooden frame around it and a "plus" or cross of wood across the middle.
Acts just like a door for your visibility and access to monsters. [While it's closed, they can't see you (it's like there's a pane of glass in the opening) but as soon as you open the window, the monsters can see you (it's like an empty gap) and both you and skeletons can shoot through the opening. Attacking through the gap while the window is open is exactly as though there was no window.]
Also acts like a door in regard to placement, so you can choose to place it along the inside or the outside edge of the window opening.
Opening and closing of the window would work exactly like a door as well.
Comments please. Is it overpowered or useful? Support or no? Is it good in principle but needs something else to balance it? If so, what?
I tried to simulate it -more or less }=) - with trapdoors - is that what you mean ?
I like any idea that adds more "reality-look" for builds. Windows would be neat in general, not only or solely or mainly to be able to shoot enemies Just, as I said, to have a more "realistic" feel to some houses.
Would be cool to have the possibility to have a double window (like you can do that with doors, too) }=D
I support that }=)
Regards, Meri
I tried to simulate an opening window with trapdoors, but I couldn't figure out how to place the trapdoor so that it would close across the opening instead of flipping between two walls and never covering the opening. I'll give it another try, but I still think that a proper window would be better. Thanks for the support.
Edit: I tried again and I've confirmed it doesn't work in "vanilla" MC.
It's true that this has been suggested before, but all the previous suggestions have been a bit light on for detail. I still think it's worth having this thread because of the extra detail.
I also think that the previously suggested crafting recipes were too cheap. I believe my crafting recipe suggestion is more balanced.
