So, my idea is that deserts have a special wildlife that can make living there easier.
So, for vegetation we could have Saguaro Cactuses. (Total Cactus Reboot).
They can grow up to TEN Blocks and bear fruit at the top of its 3-4 arms. For those that dont know, Saguaros are the TALL TALL TALL cactuses you would think of when you think of cowboys. Destorying these masses gives you sticks (4-5). These "sticks" are actually the skeleton fo the Saguaro, these could be subsitutes for sticks from trees, so if forests make you lag, you dont have to go back and forth from desert to forest.
The Ocotillo Plant
These plants are used by Natives in the desert regions of America for fences, and when I say fences, I mean
LIVING fences that have sharp sharp spikes (sort of like barbed wire, but not so modern) These could be used as protection for your crops, which animals will try to eat.
Animals:
Desert Rabbits (with other biome types also)
Killing any of these biome variations drops a pelt, they all look like their respective variation.
Pelts can be used to make a aesthetic armor (could posibbly be better than leather, but weaker than iron)
Villagers will trade with pelt.
Snakes (different variations, each with different affects) Killing a snake has a possibilty to drop snake venom , which can be used to make more powerful potions (only for negative though), or to make a potion that can help you form a resistance to the venom.
Eagles
Killing has a possibility of dropping Eagle Feathers, which villagers trade for.
Coyote
Can be tamed into a tame variation using same things as wolves.
Act more like cats than dogs though, as they scare creepers away.
Foxes
Kill smaller livestock like chickens
Killing them drops fox pelt, which can be made into aesthetic armor with a same strength as any pelt armor
Wolves (desert variation) Also known as the Mexican Wolf, can be tamed and act like normal dogs when tamed, but have a different looking fur.
So, you think adding another kind of food, some sticks, and fences makes living in the desert easier?
And then give zero support for your animal idea.
I agree with you that deserts do need some life, however, these ideas do not add anything new to Minecraft, other than 2 new types of cacti for visual purposes.
No support.

The Ocotillo isn't a cactus, and these arent even all of my ideas. If I hadn't been brief I could have just kept going ON AND ON AND ON...
Right, but the plant is extremely similar.
Also, I recommend you do put all your ideas down in this thread. This topic doesn't have enough informational support yet, and I'm sure we'd all like to see your ideas and how it all works together!

Did I say anything about rainbows? And deserts aren't bleak and deserted, they actually have life.
Yes I live in Arizona, and minecraft portrays horribly what most deserts are like. There is tons of life! tons of bushes, cacti, flowers, and a lot more. Minecraft portrays the stereotypical view of a desert and not what the majority of real life deserts are like.

Thank You, Someone Realizes the truth! Deserts are teeming with life, how do you think the native americans surivived in those deserts? (Because yes, they live there..)

First off, I see potential in this idea.
Secondly, however you might wanna add a little bit more detail other than asking us to look at your other post. Get some of your ideas related to "Desert Life" and put them here.

Has to be a full support from me. Mojang have developed every biome so far to have a key aim or factor, such as jungles & ocelots, snow biomes & wolves, forests & other animals, they should without question add some more recourses at least to deserts, but I do agree that if this was to be followed through, it should not be logged with OP items and such. The idea of a "wasteland" or "desert" is that it is vast, scarce, and remote, or far away from civilisation.
How about they do make a wasteland, that looks more like the deserts near egypt with small oasis here and there and camels.
Edit: Also have tried to balance the benefits with the antibenifits but thankyou for reminding meThanks gusy for so much of the positive support, tell your buddies that may like this, I need SUPPORT.
