First of all, I understand that Minecraft is a "blocky" game, and naturally the players look "blocky." But I have seen many different mods that add new mobs that vary in physical shape while remaining "blocky" in appearance (DivineRPG and MorePlayerModels are two excellent examples). Mojang should allow you to select the model that your player will look like. Examples of this could be a skeleton player model, an enderman-looking model, and maybe some form of robotic player model as well. Just something I thought would be cool, just a (kind of) minor aesthetic change. Feel free to suggest ideas for player models as well as methods of achieving said models (ie: MorePlayerModels's pixel-based classification system).

MorePlayerModels does not add any robot models (or for that matter anything above a modified base player model). The emphasis here was on a)not having to update mods to play Minecraft and b)the robot models.
I think that the player models are fine, and besides, if this happens, then every skin will be useless and will take a LONG time to be redesigned
But for anyone who wanted to have the advanced models it would be worth the effort. I would definitely spend extra time if it meant having my robot skin look like a robot.

Even though your concept is interesting one can sense it has been done out of your individual wish to have a robot-shaped skin, which makes me wonder this: Why a robot-module? I mean from Mojang's perspective, you would think that ANY model they added could be turned into a robot by simply altering the skin of it, on the other hand, things like villager-like modules or maybe a creeper-module couldn't be created without a new base module for each cathegory.
And to be fair, your suggestion so far has been fairly vague as to exactly which modules should be introduced, and first and foremost, HOW.
I don't think it would be that great to be mistaken for an Enderman all the time by others.
Also, how would skins work?
I WOULD love some way to customize the player's model. It would be cool if there was some kind of modeling software Mojang could recommend, and then you can submit it to the site, and they can approve it and apply it, and you can provide the skin and everything, and then on MP, the server would download it and add it to a file/folder in its /players folder so it wouldn't have to download every time you join.
This could be exploited way too much. I could dress up as an enderman and scare people. Dress up as a skeleton, scare people. Unless it's client side. Then it would be no use.

If you've ever used MorePlayerModels, the model is selected by certain pixels being certain colors. That way you could custom-skin the desired model.
