I was thinking we should have the North and South Poles. There is only 1 of each in a world and whenever you right click a compass, it points to the North/South Pole; depending on which you pick. The poles could be covered with mountains and tundras. Instead of snow covering the top of the grass, it's the whole block of snow. Igloos would spawn and it could have loot, you could see people living up there, maybe villagers in warm clothes. Also, wolves would be very common in the poles, even going on something crazy, frostbite. If you don't wear special clothes, you get frostbite and it deals some hearts of damage. Do you think this is a good idea? Anything to add/remove from it?
This suggests that minecraft is like earth. Minecraft worlds are infinite, so this would be awkward.
I do however like the igloo thing. Instead of the north and south pole thing, there could be a simple biome that resembles snow plains from extrabiomesxl, (same terrain as the plains biome except snow blocks replace grass and its covered in snow. spruce trees replace oak trees) except with more wolves and igloos.
I disagree with the frostbite thing, that's over suggested and i personally think it would ruin the game.
There should be a "north" which would be a random # of blocks north of spawn and it would be an icy tundra biome, but it shouldn't be a "north pole" because like RaGeMoDe stated, minecraft is infinite.

I thought Minecraft worlds were 2,000,000 blocks long and wide?
If you're really that picky, then get Rei's MiniMap and set a waypoint to the Tundra, and call it "North Pole".
Easy solution.
