i think trees could have more to them. like one thing is that if saplings that fall from trees and sit there long enough could plant themselves. of course the sapling would have to be on dirt or grass. otherwise it would sit there till it despawns. another thing is that trees could could have a way bigger max height... it just takes forever. so if you leave a tree for a very long time in the game it could get huge, no matter what kind of tree. or if that doesn't really work out you could add a new biome... it would be called redwood biome and they would be tall trees like the jungle trees, and the forest would be really dense and alot darker of a biome... anyone agree? just a small suggestion.

No thanks. Sapling planting is meant to be a player's job, and not something that's done for you and could cause trees to just sprout in inconvenient places. And trees that could grow bigger could also cause some serious conflictions and glitches, and isn't needed anyway because A.) jungle trees are huge enough and B.) the game supplies more than enough trees.

Don't tree's already do that? I see random saplings on the ground a lot (or at least used to) that I never placed.

That's probably because leaves generated too far away from logs in that chunk. If you're not actively IN the chunk, or just spawned a new world, nothing will have decayed because it's unloaded. Once you get within a certain range, though, it starts running checks for leaf decay, and those leaves that spawned too far from the tree (or from trees that didn't start burning from lava proximity until you closed the gap) often drop saplings.

You might wanna google "Nature overhaul mod". It's long outdated (as far as I know), but it's probably what you're looking for. You'll probably find more on the matter there.
No, I hate having to pillar up a tree because it spawned too large.
