So Creative is fun for building and whatnot. Here's how I think it could be improved without using external programs or lengthy/complicated commands.
1. Long Range Block Placement.
I hate having to get right up close to stuff to place blocks. I wanna be able to place blocks from a larger distance, so I can see what I'm doing in relation to the entire project, as I do it, so I don't have to keep stopping to fly up and check, before flying back down.
2. Paint/Draw tools.
If you're like me, you hate having to fill in big platforms with every single block. The Paint/Draw tool would allow you to place a flat rectangle of a specific block by clicking and dragging from one corner to the opposite. Great for quickly doing floors or filling in roofs in a single click. you can switch the orientation with Alt, and to walls quickly, too.
3. Copy and Paste Tools.
There should be a "Creative Tools" section in the Creative Inventory. One of these tools would be the Copy Square tool. Using it, you would place a block at the bottom corner of whatever you wanted to copy, then click and drag to the opposite corner, then click and drag again to the top corner. This would copy the blocks in the area to one of 5 "Paste Blocks" which can be used to duplicate and paste up to 5 different objects back into the world instantaneously. The Paste Block is linked to the first corner block you placed when you copied the object. Clicking once would place a semi-transparent "Ghost" of the object in the world, allowing you to make sure you put it in the right spot. You can then rotate the selection with the arrow keys, or z, x, c and v keys.
4. Delete Tool
There should also be a delete tool similar to the Copy tool, in that you click and drag from one corner, to the second, then the third, to delete large chunks of blocks instantly.
5. Phasing Mode
While flying, the player should be able to phase through objects, even solid ground. When underground, blocks around the player would become semi-transparent, like the "Ghost" from the Paste tool. And a specific "Elbow Room" radius around the player would be converted to Air blocks/not rendered, allowing the player to work on blocks from a distance, while inside the ground.
Now, I don't normally play Creative Mode just to build random stuff slowly. I make fortresses and bases and nice settings, so I can set my gamemode to 0 and start playing Survival on my custom map. These tools would make map setup a breeze, allowing the player to build large cities of uniform buildings, or erect massive, blocky structures almost instantly.
I'm sure there's a mod for this, or an easy tool that I can use, but it'd be nice to have in Vanilla Minecraft.
So what are your Thoughts? Opinions? Ideas?
Any additional Tool suggestions? Lemme know.
I definitely support this. Creative mode is about being, you know, creative. I don't want to spend an hour making a wall. I want to be able to raise empires, construct lakes, and rivers, and having to place individual blocks does not in any way support creativity.
Support. I especially like the idea of phasing, because in survival mode you have ender pearls that let you get inside spaces easily, whereas in creative you have to break the blocks to get in.
