Currently, we have the wood door and the iron door. Both a solid color that cannot be changed, and both are the only legit door. Sure, you can use fence gate or trap doors in certain houses as doors, but they don't suffice for most people. With a bit of redstone, you can essentially turn most blocks into doors, but that still does not suffice.
I suggest adding more door types and colors. For door types, we could have a red wool door, blue wool door (and the other colors), cobblestone door, stone door, etc. I know some people such as myself who favor the interior and exterior look of houses would enjoy more of a door variety. Currently, for my mansion, every room's door is a wood door, which really doesn't look too good in a house that's half diamond block and iron block. Yes, I could use iron doors, but I'd have to have levers, pressure plates, or buttons...which is not something I want to do.
I'm not sure how many people would actually favor this, but I for one think it'd be a great addition for those of us who are builders/architects and not survivalists.
As a survivalist, I suppose I don't have much to say on this thread. Except that I've seen lots of door suggestions that include some useful things.
Like, smooth stone doors that open by hand, but also emit a redstone signal when open
gold doors that only open when the player is holding a key
obsidian doors that stand on their own (ie. don't need a support block underneath them) and are extremely blast resistant
emerald doors that open for villagers, but resist zombies.
The gold door only opening with a key is something I kinda like, but the obsidian and emerald doors sound a bit cheaty. I really don't want anything fancy, I'd just like more variety of doors.
