So I was playing Minecraft this last weekend when suddenly a wild idea appeared: daytime hostiles. I was walking along and realized I was completely 100% safe as long as I wasn't TRYING to hurt myself. Then I thought to myself it might be interesting to have some mobs that spawn hostile durring the day time.
I know that there are neutral mobs during the day that can become hostile if attacked but I'd like to see some that start out hostile. I've thought of a few beasties that could be added:
Scorpions
I know these have been discussed on the forums before but I have yet to see a substantial description.
Appearance - They could have a similar model to a spider with the addition of a tail and pincers, as well as being gray and white, or gray and brown in color.
Movement - slightly slower than average walking speed. jumps from 2 blocks away to attack. Targets player up to 16 blocks away.
Drops - 5 xp
0-1 poison sack (new item. could be used to make poison arrows.)
[Wanted to add another drop item but one just isn't coming to mind right now.]
Bears
I'm not sure how everyone will feel about this one but...
HP - 16
Attack - Easy:4
Normal:5
Hard:6
Spawn - Forests only (or perhaps a new structure, a bear's den)
Appearance - 1.5 blocks tall, 1 block wide, and 2 blocks long, black body and nose with a little brown on the end of the snout. A few brown or dark gray splotches all over the body. a longish snout. maybe visible white claws.
Movement - Slow. Approx 3/4 of the players average walk. same attack range as a player armed with a sword. Targets player from 10 blocks away.
Drops - 8 exp.
Leather 0-4
Raw beef 1-5
Steak 1-5 (If killed by fire damage)
Rare drops - Bear claw (potion ingredient.)
Polar Bear
Similar to the regular bear.
HP - 18
Attack - Easy:4
Normal:6
Hard:7
Spawn - Tundra only [not taiga] (maybe a bear's den here too)
Appearance - 1.5 blocks tall, 1 block wide, and 2 blocks long, white body, black nose. A few light gray splotches all over the body. a longish snout. maybe visible black claws.
Movement - Slow. Approx 3/4 of the players average walk. same attack range as a player armed with a sword. Targets player from 10 blocks away.
Drops - 8 exp.
Leather 0-4
Raw beef 1-5
Steak 1-5 (If killed by fire damage)
Rare drops - Bear claw (potion ingredient.)
Panthers
I don't really have any comment on this one.
HP - 8
Attack - Easy:3
Normal:4
Hard:6
Spawn - Jungle only (Uncommon. Perhaps only near or in Jungle temples)
Appearance - 2 blocks long. 1 block tall. 1 block wide. Black body. Yellow eyes. very few, small, dark grey spots. Long tail.
Movement - Same speed as players average walk. (Perhaps a little faster?) Targets player within 14 blocks. ability to jump 3 blocks up. can jump 6 blocks across. jumps from 3 blocks in any direction to attack.
There it is. Please keep in mind these are rough estimates for everything. I tried to balance these guys out as well as I could but, I understand that some tweaks will be necessary. Please give me some feedback. What sounds good? What sounds overpowered? What could be added, removed or changed?
Sorry, but this idea has been posted many times before. Please use the search bar before posting, though I applaud you on the thought and detail which you put into this.

Ever hear of something called running away? Its like running towards them, but without the confrontation and death.
Daytime is supposed to be a safe time of day were you can prepare for the night and give you time to build a house. Doing this will just remove these safe feelings and that Is just dumb
Also, since you appear to be new, I would recommend using the search button next time since these have already been suggested
It sounds interesting, but watch as I slowly and neatly pick apart your idea.
Scorpions are very dangerous, the way you've made them. Way more dangerous than most mobs you'd find even at night. The cave spider is designed to give danger to mineshafts, where all the valuable treasure is. But they don't want to force people out of the desert. And during the daytime? What?! A poisonous mob that spawns in safe time?! No, I don't think I'll live in the desert anymore, thanks. Also, I looked at the damage. On hard mode, the scorpion does 9 hearts of damage in ONE attack, when you combine the poison with the damage dealt. Uh... That's more than an Enderman! And the poison pierces your armor!
As the guy above me stated, Creepers that haven't despawned are still a danger at the daytime. Also, in any biome with a good amount of water or trees, there is the issue of skeles. especially in jungles and swamps, where trees and water respectively are the most abundant feature to the biome.
What makes bears worth it? They give about as much as a cow, attack you even in the daytime, do as much(Or more) as an enderman. I'd just farm cows. So, why would someone want to fight a bear? Also, for a daytime mob, they are ridiculously deadly. Same goes for polar bears, who are even tougher. Only thing I see is that bear claw, which I don't think is worth adding such a killer mob.
Panthers might be interesting, but only if they guard temples. Otherwise, It'd make living in a jungle a living nether to deal with.
These mobs(Except the panther, which sounds fair with what you've provided) are all WAY too dangerous. Everyone would either only live in plains, where none of them roam, or do everything at night, where these creatures can't hurt them. Than get mad cause they don't despawn at night, and ragequit.
Yeah, I think Creepers are more than enough 'daytime hostiles' for us. Also, the daytime is meant to be more of a safe time where you can run around and gather crap without hostile mobs surrounding you. I'm not rejecting a daytime hostile mob 100%, but I don't think adding all that is really necessary.
I can see scorpions guarding desert temples, and have the inability to trigger stone pressure plates (if intended to spawn even in the trap room). It would be the same poison that cave spiders give, not something that is more powerful.
As for bears, I see no point in them. As for polar bears, what is the rarity and specialty between them if they drop the same items?
Now for panthers. All I see in them are a black version of ocelots that attack you.
And for the 'rare' drops, this suggestion leads into more suggestions that have to do with potions.
I would prefer to stay safe.
If you want danger during the day, go roam a cave somewhere, but not in the forums.
Good try though.

Would you rather read a story of knights and dragons, or be in one?
I'm glad people support my dragon raising. Could I ask for assistance with this one now?
Check out my dragon scroll(http://dragcave.net/user/Heric) if you want to see the dragons I have. I may get more dragons later.
Don't. Start. A. Flame. War.
No support, day is supposed to be safe.
