Here's an interesting idea, I saw the release of hardened clay last week and it hit me, It is strikingly similar to a block I had come up a while ago, which I called terracotta. I though some of my ideas could fit into this block.
-Firstly it could be crafted into Spanish tiled roof blocks (or just tiled roof blocks), and stairs, in a brick block shape, for use on small deserty homes.
-Secondly it could be put into a cauldron shape, and be made into clay jugs, clay jugs would be decorative like flower pots, yet be larger and carry items like sugar cane, or a bundle of sticks.
-The final use was clay plates, these were crafted like any half slab and would have the shape of a snow cover or carpet block. the unique feature would be you could place food items on them for display purposes. imagine walking into your Minecraft home and seeing a huge freshly cooked chicken or steak on your dining room table.
Either way I hope you like my ideas, It would be an honor to see any of these features implemented into vanilla.
This is a /great/ idea. There are so many ceramic/earthenware items that would be wonderful to have, and hardened clay blocks fill that gap if they could be used as a crafting ingredient.

Support, as why use a block that you would completely ignore when you have cobblestone, wood, and everything else (for house building purposes). More uses would be the best way to go.
