you know how we have bookshelves? they only serve as decoration and as an enchantment table buffer. it would be cool if bookshelves held books instead of just being there. another thing too. it would be really cool if there was a random overworld structure that was a library and had stories in it. how cool would it be to tell your friends that you found the book of notch? just a suggestion.
Eh. I build libraries on my own. Holding books is novel (ha-ha!) but wouldn't be as cool as you expect.
What I would like to see is a lectern so I could diversify the appearance of a library. We have bookshelves, enchanting tables, and item frames. Lecterns would be a nice final touch, I think.
I don't care how many tones of time it has been suggested, but I do agree that there should be some kind of interface for bookshelves, connected with books. Approved, though I'd appreciate some pictures)
I can suggest that instead of a brand new building called "library" why not make the libraries in strongholds the "centre" of the stronghold. make it huge and then we can add the end portal in that room or to a room adjacent to it.
Vague, already suggested. One reason books being stored in bookshelves would be bad is that they would have to be tile entities, meaning no hidden bookshelf piston doors.

Also, Strongholds have libraries too.
