I think this is an issue that's been long overdue for some people.
What I mean of course is: A way to connect minecarts together.
It's so annoying when trying to build a minecart tram when you don't have the resources to build an efficient powered rail system, or are trying to create something more traditional. A powered minecart is usually only efficient when there is another powered minecart pushing it, but that can be a real coal hog. This is due to the fact that to operate a powered minecart, it has to be pushing it's cargo. If it were to pull the cargo, or be connected to it, the cart wouldn't have as many problems going up slopes. I believe this to be kind of a common-knowledge type of concept, and have always anticipated a way to connect carts to be added in an update.
It would be possible to rectify this issue by making a "connector" item/entity, that interacted when being held, and right-clicked on a cart. The side of the cart clicked would have the "connector" attach to it, and when an adjacent cart touched the side with the "connector" it would attach to the "connector" instead of the other cart.
To get a cart to become unattached it would have to be destroyed, with the "connector" remaining on the cart it was originally connected to. The only way to get the "connector" item back is to destroy the cart it was originally attached to. (as the "connector" will constantly be attached to it's side)
A possible item to act as a "connector" would be slimeball or a Tripwire Hook, that when put on a recipe table by itself, can become a "connector". A cart with a slime connector on it, would have the respected side looked "slimed", similar to a sticky piston. It would be a type of "sticky cart", with variations of the different sides that could potentially be sticky, and the possibility of both sides of a cart being sticky. A cart that was "double slimed" would drop two/both connectors when destroyed. Carts with a Tripwire Hook would look like a cart with a Hook hanging off of it's respected side, with both sides having Hooks if the cart is "double hooked".
Please leave creative criticism below, and tell me what you think about the concept of "cart connectors" or "sticky carts". I don't think I'm the first to come up with this idea, surely there are others who feel the same.
EDIT: Just to be clear, I don't care if this topic is redundant, because it wouldn't have to be if it would actually be addressed. Furthermore, I only mean one single item should be added. This isn't an "expansion pack" mod, its a "patch" or a "fix" to something that was obvious years ago.
It would be nice to be able to use somekind of switchable control rail to cause carriages to detach from the engine when crossed over. You could then automatically drop off carriages in sidings. Something to automatically reverse engine direction too...ummm, I'm probably getting ahead of myself. No doubt there's already a mod that does all of this properly. I like to stick to vanilla though.
Minecarts are an example of existing features not being finished properly.
Instead of adding extra fluff to the game, why oh why can't Mojang tidy up all the buggy and half baked stuff that's already in there?
They are starting to do my head in with all this to be honest.
One rail system feature I would like is a combined gate + railtrack block so that I can make a pressure plate rail open the gate just as my minecart arrives. Would save on needing to make a sticky piston mechanism to prevent mobs from being able to enter my train station.
I like the idea, but I like a more railcraftish way of connecting your carts, possibly with chain, which you could make with iron in a line on the crafting table and then usign a crowbar to connect/disconnect. The string would break in real life (you have to think, trying to pull a minecart, which could possibly weigh around a few tons then on top, all you have to pull it is string, AND you have to go uphill, get the idea) Also, this is just an idea I throw around everywhere, I think we need TRAINS.... I like spitfire's mod, which adds steam diesel and electric trains, but I dont think we need diesel or electric yet. So you would make a special kind of crafting table, and then using a regular crafting table make the parts. Then go back to the special table and put together all the parts. BOOM! Now you have a cool looking way of pulling around your carts that looks more pleasign to the eye and also a bit more evolved looking. You insert coal and water and will have to replace these (of course). Over time you of course have to add more coal and water buckets. But the upside is the trains can pull more, can pull faster, and look just plain cool.

This is in fact a suggestion and thus goes in the suggestions section. However, even if it were to be in the correct section, it would be redundant. Please use the search tool before posting.

I think there could be some improvements and new types of track systems added, for example a track switcher or station. Yes, I know there are redstone contraptions that can already do this but they seem to be to complicated and it would just be easier and more convenient to have these things in block form.

Quote if you agree with me.
Thanks. But I said to quote it. Haha
