For me, one of the only ways to make this useful is for transitions, like stairs but smoother levels, it would make for a woolen stair of sorts. You'd stack it the exact same way as snow. It's a simple idea, but would make carpets useful.
yea the snow layers are pretty neat. Honestly i was kind of hoping carpet would be exactly like pressure plates: hear me out!
So when one pressure plate is placed, you can still see the corners of the block underneath, then if you place another carpet next to the first carpet, they would connect. Kind of like how fences work. Fences are just a single stand until another fence is placed next to it then they connect through that horizontal bar.
This wouldn't exactly work I don't think. Carpet is a non...is collidable the word? block that does not hold things. You just walk through it. The only use I can see this for is to make a secret door, but other then that....
Barely support.

Ever hear of something called running away? Its like running towards them, but without the confrontation and death.
Carpets are meant to do what they do in the real world--decorate. Sometimes, it is okay to have a block that exists for decoration and no other purpose.
Show me a case of someone in the real world piling cuts of carpet on top of each other to form stairs, and I'll support this idea.

Sorry but no support.
