Sometimes I find current inventory management system (selecting and moving items in and out of you backpack, chests, etc.) too tedious, especially for large amounts of items. I think a good solution would be being able to ctrl-click items to take or place a stack of five items. E.g: Ctrl-click a stack of 64 would take 5 out of that stack, ctrl-click again would take out another five, giving you ten items selected. Ctrl-clicking an empty slot would then place five items for your hand in the slot. What do you think?
I agree with the concept, but I think it should be 4 or 8 at a time. Almost everything in the game operates on multiples of 4 or 8. Items either stack to 64 or 16, the most often used material to smelt (Coal/Charcoal) smelts 8 things, etc.

Uh, ctrl-clicking already does something like that. It selects half of the number of items in the stack. Even if it didn't, "If you can have anything you want simply by uttering a few words, the destination matters not, only the journey to it". Something to keep in mind next time you want to make life "easier".

Your brain is so powerful, it would take a state of the art computer the size of a factory to come even close to matching the processing power.

Right Clicking selects half the item in a stack, not Control+Click. It also places a single item out of a stack, and not a specific number. Also, while the quote is very deep and certainly applies to some things, this is not one of those times. This would be helpful in many cases and wouldn't effect anyone who didn't want to use it. This i s not a journey or some epic adventure, nor is it a story. This is video game inventory management, and there is no excuse for it not to be as streamlined as it could be, provided it can also remain simple.

While you're right about CTRL+Click and Right clicking, holding Right click and dragging will divide the item into stacks across the crafting grid (or chest inventory or whatever) and CTRL+Click while dragging will divide them into even stacks, and CTRL+Double click will select and pick up all stacks of a single item. While there could be other controls (to be honest I'm not sure I agree or disagree with this idea), inventory management is pretty optimized.

Why are you using a trackpad for Minecraft...for any game, really.
It isn't really that hard. Pointer, middle and ring finger of the left hand control WASD keys, left pinky presses control, left thumb presses space, and right hand uses the trackpad. I am actually able to get a good amount

Ever hear of something called running away? Its like running towards them, but without the confrontation and death.

Actually, quite a lot of this is incorrect or partially incorrect. Double Click will pick up all stacks of single items (up to the maximum stack of the item you picked up). Holding Right Click and dragging will distribute 1 item from what you are holding to each slot at a time, and holding Left Click and dragging will divide what you are holding between each slot evenly.
With the default control scheme for PC, the Control key is not used at all.

If you are on a non-laptop, then yes this is true. However, with laptop trackpads, this is what is easier for most of us.
