My idea for an automatic block miner is a block with a small rectangular opening on a block, and when you power this block it will mine the block sitting 1 meter away from it (1 block of space between). When it is powered the appropriate tool will swing in and out of the small rectangular opening and mine the block. I got the idea when I watched a video on how to create an elevator and it was done with a normal and sticky piston that would push and pull all the way to the top. I thought instead of mining it right after you could have that done automatically and have it drop into a hopper that would transport the blocks back down for the next use and have an automatic block placer that would place the pistons in the right position for you for the next use.
I dont see why players wouldn't just go mine the block directly. It seems as though you would have to mine up the auto-miner and replace it every time you want it to mine a block. If what you mean is that it should be able to go mine all your ores for you, thats even worse, and way OP. In any case, this needs more detail.

Your brain is so powerful, it would take a state of the art computer the size of a factory to come even close to matching the processing power.
I dont know what you mean with the piston elevator , You want a block that could help automate cobblestone generators and tree farms? seems interesting..
