From basically the beginning of Minecraft, apples have dropped from oak trees, with 1/40 chance of such an event. What if there was an official apple tree? My thoughts are that they would only generate in forest biomes, and that they would be fairly rare. When the leaves decay/ are destroyed, there would be at least 1/4 chance of an apple drop(maybe 1/2?), which could be improved with a Fortune-enchanted tool. It would have a lower chance than other trees to drop a sapling, about 1/40, and slower than average growth rate. I am not quite sure how to balance this, but those are my thoughts. If anyone else has other suggestions for balancing the apple tree, I would like to hear them.
I read a good post where a person said that it would be a good idea to obtain apples with shears. I like that kind of thing. This idea though, as said above, REDUNDANT.
