Horses? BAD idea! We already have pigs that you can ride! Personally I think that we should get breed able alpacas/llamas that you use a rope to drag around with, like a leash. Like the Mayans did you should also be able to put at lest 2 small chests attached to the llama/alpaca. So instead of riding it you drag it around with your leash. Possibly can name it, and can have different kind of breeds.(like mo' creatures' horses)
Well, Horses wouldn't be bad if they are more than just a rideable mob. Such as the ability to attack with both the sword and bow. As well as store some items in the horse. But since a Horse wouldn't be the only thing, and since Mojang made it clear each update will focus on specific areas, I feel they should update villagers as well, make them programmable to do certain things, give us the ability to create working towns, or good RPG's without the need for several mods. I think adding more interaction by having hostile and friendly mobs that do more than just run around and over-charge us for stupid trades would give the game a lot of depth. This would also extend the life of Minecraft because we could create FULL RPG's and FULL adventure games with-in Minecraft. Let us hire Mobs to do certain tasks in certain area's. Let us form relationships with certain mobs that can offer benefits as well as hender what happens through an adventure or survival game.
Minecraft is not meant to be an RPG, it's a sandbox building game. I think you're being too vague about llamas and alpacas. How much health do they have? How fast are they?

Maybe the speed will vary through how many items they are carrying?
I like the idea of more ride-able mobs, since they're adding horses anyways. And instead of chests, maybe you can craft satchels that when you right click horses, pigs, or llamas/alpacas, it appears on the side of the mob on the side you are facing. You could have ride-able mobs carry up to two satchels. satchels have room to hold about half of a small chest.

I'd throw this suggestion out the Mojang building's window if I could.
We do not need more worthless mobs that a Horse can replace. Horses are stronger and a more viable animal and more fitting in the Minecraft world currently. If I see a llama or an alpaca in the game will I either downgrade my game to Alpha v1.1.2 where I started and try to figure out what went wrong under all these years.
