The premise is simple: a block, resembling a dock, that could be used to "park" a boat. The boat would remain fixed in place next to the block, and when in position, a player leaving the boat would appear on the dock (instead of standing on the boat, pushing it away).
This would enable boats to be used effectively as a means of transport without the need of breaking your boat, or risking it being pushed off and lost.
I realize that building dock-like systems that utilize the flow of water to keep boats close to shore are already possible. However, such systems are unsightly, risk breaking your boat on the shore if you come in too quickly, and you must fight the current if/when you want to depart again.
I like the idea and would make for a better docking mechanic. However you should include more info on what this dock block will look like and what materials will be needed to craft it along with its recipe.
I'm surprised that I never thought of this even though I let off a string of curses in my head whenever I get off the boat and watch it fly away into a wall. Even wool docks don't cut it. This thing you're suggesting would hold the boat in place, right?

Thoughts?
Support.
This would be great to add.
