I was recently watching Direwolf20's spotlight of BetterStorage v0.5 mod, and i got an idea. Yes, my idea has a lot to do with this mod.
With smooth stone in the pattern of an anvil, you can make the stone anvil. This can be used in anything the anvil can do except the enchanting related usage. This is so you dont need to be rich on iron for something i will explain later. It is less durable then a normal anvil.
You can shove a dye with a normal chest in a iron/stone anvil, and the lock will be the color of the dye. You can mix and match dyes like when dying leather armor. This is good if you want to organize everything in your chests. This works for trapped chests also, it will still have a red tint in the side of the lock. However, if you have any red in the chest, the red tint of a locked chest will be a little bigger. To clear the dye, put the marked chest in a iron/stone anvil with a water bucket and you will get a normal chest back.
There are 5 types of reinforced chests. The specialty order of reinforced chests: Iron > Lapis > Gold > Diamond > Emerald.
For the next tier of reinforced chests, it adds 3 more space slots then a normal chest spaces of storage to the side. So iron will have 3 more spaces then a normal chest, lapis will have 6 more then a normal chest, and so on. To get them, you shove a normal chest in a stone/iron anvil with the ingot that is above. The reinforced chests get more resistant to explosives then normal chests. Also, if you make these with a marked chest instead of a normal chest, you will get a marked version of the reinforced chest. You can also make a marked reinforced chest by putting a dye with the reinforced chest like you can with normal chests. To upgrade, you put the reinforced chest with an upper level ingot in an anvil, like if you put a iron reinforced chest with gold, you get a gold reinforced chest. If you upgrade a reinforced marked chest, you keep the mark. You can clear the mark with a bucket in an anvil. The reinforced chest looks like a chest with a thick outline of the color of the ingot that you are using. But what about trapped chests? You will see soon. Sorry if confusing.
This is where it gets interesting.
First, you should make a lock. Craft it like this:
g=gold, n=gold nugget, i=Iron, -=blank space
- n -
g - g
- i -
This is useless until you make a key:
(Use same code as the lock)
n g -
n g -
- g -
Want something interesting? Put the key with a iron ingot in a iron/stone anvil to make an iron key, for aesthetic purposes. You can also shove a dye in with a key in the stone/iron anvil to wrap the key a little bit with the color of the dye. You can mix and match. You can also do this with iron keys. To clear the dye, put the dyed key/iron key in a filled cauldron. This is for aesthetics. You can press the use item key in the air with the key to name it.
Now, for the lock. It is a useless item unless you put it with any key in a iron/stone anvil. You will get a new lock that is paired with the key, and keep the key. If the key is named, then the lock will be named also, just because. You can now put the lock on any type of chest, and you can only open the chest with the correct key. If you change the dye or put an iron ingot on the key, the key will still be paired. If you lose the key, no worries. If you are holding the matching key, or you are the lock placer OR the chest placer (for anti-troll reasons) you can shift click the lock and remove it. Yeah, its possible to change the key that it corresponds to by putting the lock in a stone/iron anvil with a new key. If you put a key that is set to a lock with another key that is not, you will keep the already paired key and get a new key that is set to the same lock as the already paired one. Locked chests cannot interact with hoppers in any way unless have a certain enchantment. Keys have a durability of 50. Iron keys have a durability of 70. You can also lock wooden doors with locks, and they are exactly like chests, but with a door.
There are a few key and lock enchantments. A server owner can change the config to keep some enchantments from being used.
Lock enchantments:
Persistence: (I-V) Makes the chest more resistant to explosions.
Security: (I-V) Offers protection against key enchantments that are lower level then this enchantment.
Shock: (I-III) Damages a player that is trying to open, break, or unlock a chest unsuccessfully.
Trigger: (I) Turns the locked chest into a type of trapped chest. It will admit very small redstone when a player is trying to open, break, or unlock the chest unsuccessfully. See options.
Delivery: (I) Hopper options. See options.
Super: (I) Only in a form of enchanted book. Cannot be obtained legit. Can be obtained through creative menu. Meant to be an admin enchantment. When applied, it protects against key enchantments no matter what. Only the correct key and an Unlocking enchantment can unlock this.
Lock options:
Clicking on the lock when you have the right key, you are the lock owner OR the lock placer will give you a GUI. If you have Trigger enchantment, you can choose if you want it to admit redstone to any opening or just if it is attempted to be broken, opened, or unlocked unsuccessfully. If you have Delivery enchantment, you have the options to choose if the chest is allowed to receive items from hoppers, deposit its contents into hoppers, both, or non.
Key enchantments:
Lockpicking: (I-V) Can open a locked chest, then decreases the enchantment level by one until you use it when its level is one. After using it at level one, the enchantment disappears. If the lock has a higher level of security then the key that is attempting to pick the lock, the lockpick is unsuccessful and the lockpick will decrease by one, showing that you lost a lockpick level due to being unsuccessful.
Unlocking: (I) Only in the form of a enchanted book. Cannot be obtained legit. Can only be obtained through creative menu. Meant to be an admin enchantment. When applied, the key can open any lock, and can remove any lock. So you are practically the lock and chest placer and have the correct key.
Morphing (I-V) If you are the lock placer or the chest placer, pressing use item on the lock will morph the key to fit the lock.

I spent really long on this, so please give me feedback. Thanks for reading. I will add more eventually.
How do you guys think about a multiblock device? (A device that isn't just one block, but you need to build it in a pattern. Like a Coke Furnace in Tekkit.)

Curse PremiumSays who? If you read closely, i said that moderators have a config file to take some enchantments out.
