Mobs are always a pain when they're surrounding you, so this idea's just a bit of help.
MOB HUNTERS!
Mob Hunters would either be assigned to one specific mob (eg. Enderman Hunter, Creeper Hunter etc.) or to all hostile mobs in general. During the day they can be traded with like a normal Villager, but at night they go out into the wilderness with a bow or sword on an epic Mob-slaying quest. Automatically hostile to hostile mobs (or whatever mob is in their name if its individual), they would naturally have to be stronger than most hostile mobs themselves, but could still be killed. When killed, they could drop Leather (the pelts of slain mobs) or Spawn Eggs for hostile mobs. Maybe even the things the mobs drop (eg. Gunpowder from Creeper Hunter, Ender Pearl from Enderman Hunter). What do you think?
It probably does seem a little OP, but here's the thing:
a) They aren't GODLY (eg. No one-hit kills, not immune to any particular things)
b)Perhaps something like this?: "Zombie Hunters may mistake you for a zombie and attack you as well as zombies themselves."
Yeah, now that I think about it, it would probably a bit more balanced of every now and then a Hunter attacked the player as well, or something along those lines.
What are the stats? How much hearts thing lose when attacked,it does something special to kill certains mobs(The sprint-hit tatics for creepers, using water against endermen when weak). Iron Golems already do this job.
There is one main difference between Iron Golems and these Hunters: Golems only spawn in villages. Hunters can spawn in villages, but also spawn out in the wilderness.

This might be a bit hard to explain, but there's a difference between fighting mobs and killing mobs. Mobs would attack the hunters as much as they would attack the player. They're basically a testificate warrior, so anything that attacks those Squidward guys would also attack hunters.
On another note, I may as well think of some stats.
Health: 20? I'm a bad judge of that. Basically make it whatever a testificate has and then add a bit more.
Damage: 3-7? I dunno.
Spawn Rate? (Should I put this in?): A bit Less than Enderman (I don't know what rate that is but I have trouble finding Enderman in Survival)

Why don't you look it over and revise it again.
Thanks!

Isn't Minecraft easy enough?
Yes, they do. Not in one hit but yes they do.
