Plain and simple, Minecraft isn't what it used to be. In this thread I will talk about things I feel should be changed or added. Anyways, here we go.
I have been playing Minecraft since beta 1.3, and have never really grown tired of it. That being said, after playing for so long it is hard to get a sense of accomplishment. For example, you create a new world, get about 10 log blocks, find a cave, get stone, then iron, the setup a little base. Then you strip mine and/or cave and come back with half a stack of diamonds, and of course you didn't die because you had a iron sword and armor.
Boring right? Am I the only one that feels that all it takes is a few hours of game play to become rich? Shouldn't it be more challenging? But, what about the other end of the spectrum? (The new players) You create a new world, it takes you 20 minutes to learn that you have to hold down the mouse button to break a block, then you experiment and try to get stone for another 20 minutes before you are killed by a creeper. Shouldn't there be a tutorial? There is already one on the Xbox, is it that hard to copy over?
Now back to the experienced player's point of view. We want more creativeness, more reason, more adventure, more diversity. As of now you can pick a spot in any biome and get whatever you want without ever having to leave your home. (Except maybe emeralds, but what good are they?) There should be a reason for you to go other places to get things (That are actually useful, not like emeralds) I don't want to get into specifics, but basically you have to go to x biome to get x item and/or block.
We've also had the same mobs in the overworld since 1.5 (not including bats, which do nothing). I feel like this is one of the reasons why the game is so easy. After that long, we know how to kill mobs, how many hits it takes, etc. Now the armored mobs did help a little bit, but we could do better. Maybe more poison mobs? Flying mobs? Faster mobs? Deadly water mobs? Biome-specific mobs? (Keep in mind these all are hostile)
Before wrapping this up, there are a few other things I would like to address. While there is nothing wrong with the crafting system, it could be better. Many mods often use layered-crafting, if your not familiar with this it basically means you craft x, b, and c, then those make something. I feel like if new armors, tools, and weapons are going to be added it should be more than adding a rare ore. Maybe if you smelt two ingots/ores together you get a new ingot/ore (Again, not wanting to go to in-depth here, but I think you get the point).
Finally, bugs. Honestly I don't have much to say here, the Mojang team had done alot of bug fixing recently, and honestly I feel like they should focus more on features than fixing things that don't make a difference (Unless it's cleaning up Notch's code, haha) Although, the lighting engine really needs to be fixed.
Hopefully I explained things ok, some stuff might not make sense and this thread might not be organized the best, but I got my thoughts out.
This game takes FAR more than a couple of hours, depends on what you call 'rich'. It takes that time just to beat then Enderdragon and that's when the game STARTS.
If you choose to have iron armour and an iron sword, why are you complaining about not dieing? Don't use armour, don't use weapons and play on Hard. It's a sandbox game for a reason. Just a few days ago I beat the Enderdragon on my new world (couple of weeks) with just a Iron Sword and no armour....
I am currently working on starting my Witch farm, after having just finished an Enderfarm.
There is NOTHING easy about this game unless you CHOOSE to do what makes it easier.
Also, there are plenty of reasons to 'adventure'.
Just today, I had to go thousands of blocks for a Witch hut. What about when I need to find a Mushroom biome? What about when people go to find villages, Jungle temples, strongholds? Finding snow biomes for ice, deserts for sand, jungles for cats and cocoa beans and even Mountain Biomes for fully sick phresh bases...
What do you mean same mobs since 1.5? THIS IS 1.5. Unless you're referring to Beta 1.5, and we've had mobs like the Wither, Enderman, Enderdragon etc. since then, and Zombies, Creepers AND ESPECIALLY SKELETONS have had massive damage buffs...
Bug fixing is not important? Bugs are capable of entirely ruining your experience of this game. I personally feel Mojang should stop adding things and just fix the bugs. This isn't a viable strategy since some of these bugs are exceedingly complicated to fix, and they can better utilize their time by setting goals in bug fixing and new updates simultaneously.
There is very little I agree with in the OP unfortunately

Ok, we both have very different opinions. Anyway before I start just to clarify there is nothing wrong with Minecraft.
(1)But why do you need a witch hut? What is in it that you can't have without going to it? Same with mooshroom and villages and so on and so fourth. And with the way biomes are, unless your on an island you basically have 4-5 biomes surrounding you always.
(2)Yes beta 1.5, and I mentioned overworld mobs I believe, if I didnt my mistake. But either way, withers aren't really the mob Im referring to, Im talking mobs like creepers and skeletons, guess I forgot endermen aswell.

I feel the same as well, This could also be down to the new generator and it's flaws...

There are tutorials on YouTube as said, Thats how I learnt and it works.

That could work, I think the terrain needs to be a little more interesting and a few other clean ups and we could be seeing reason to go around

Underwater in ocean needs an update underwater temples, sharks

Yes, I wouldn't mind that

Yes the lag needs to be adressed and 1.5 didn't make too much of a difference without OptiFine

I mostly disagree. Tutorials will ruin the highest peak of experience and joy of playing Minecraft for new players. When I first joined in beta 1.5, I didn't know what anything was. Redstone was a rare "Zombie rock", etc. This was the funnest time I EVER had playing Minecraft. Discovering everything, feeling I'm in a new world! A tutorial would ruin this amazing experience.
Minecraft is Minecraft. Once you know anything, there's little experience of discovery and much less challenge. But keep adding new biomes, mobs, items, and you will still never change this fact.
However, there's lots of things we can change up to make Minecraft better. And again, not add but change up. Such as bringing back the 1.7.3 Beta world generation but still adding NPC Villages, Strongholds, etc. and the new biomes. Keep Savannah biomes, those were my favorite! ;(

Hmm guess I didn't go into enough detail when I said tutorial. What I mean is have little hover boxes (dont know what else to call them) that show up when you hover over an item. Not necessarily a tutorial, but at least show them how to craft. I too learned from videos.

Villages, there value has been slightly diminished with the inventions of infinite breeding cells, but the actual villagers are vital in that. But now with zombie villagers...
The thing is, you don't NEED anything in this game, you can afk in a box after making a cow farm and just eating whenever you need to, you're still playing this game, right?
Thing is, I don't believe you can get mooshrooms or Mycelium any other way than from the Mushroom Island Biome.
And also, of course having a witch farm doesn't add anything new or 'extra', but allows you to automize things such as the collection of glowstone/redstone even potions to a greater extent. It's part of the challenge of this game, and in my opinion the most enjoyable of them all.

While I agree with the first three paragraphs in your post. I would like to point out certain things in the paragraphs after that.
1) Bats are for Aesthetics for starters. They're meant to do nothing.
2) I disagree with adding harder mobs, rather make the current mobs harder.
3) Crafting should remain simple IMHO.
4) No new armor, weapon, and toolsets. Mojang themselves said so.
5) IMHO, again I disagree with mixing two smelted ores.
6) Fixing bugs are important.
