The main idea is to improve on your tamed and help them out with their own defenses.
I love my tamed wolves, they are easy to control and fun to have around. I'm currently playing on the xbox version, and I know even if this suggestion becomes a reality, there will be a long wait till this is implimented into the xbox version. Basic construction would be helmet, chest, and pants of one specific type of armor, not damaged. This would yeild you a pet armor, which when right clicks on a pet, removes it from your inventory, like when you are feeding them, and attaches the armor.
Weither it be permanent or temporary, is up to the developers.
I was thinking about adding enchantments such as fire resistant, but that would be just a bit too overpowered.
Just the idea of adding leather armor to a wolf pet, or even iron armor would increase your pets usefulness against monsters instead of going kamikazi and not coming out of the bout alive.
nice idea but how exactly do you think that a wolf could wear pants. maybe chest armor would work better than pants
Not "pants" per say, more like leggings for its 4 legs, was waiting for the "why no shoes" because shoes would look stupid on a wolf, they have paws for a reason.
I have thought about this a bit too, but I was thinking it should be done differently. Rather than armour for pets, I'm thinking Mojang should just let us enchant their collars.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.

That would be ok, but enchants would be a bit annoying to get the one you want, and it would be based off your level and a whole bunch load of scripting to be put in place. The whole thing would be a bigger pain in the rear than armors would be.
4 Types of armors, each one increasing their defense, some have better "durability" than others if they decide to let them have durability. Leather (weak armor, 2nd lowest dura) Iron (Strong, 2nd highest dura) Gold (Strongest, lowest dura) Diamond (Strong, highest dura)
Those 4 is a lot easier to program than a few enchantments with a few levels to each.
I do love the idea of enchanted collars but exactly how it would it work. A new item for enchanting collars , or remove the collar and enchant.
That's making things a bit too complicated, you would have to have programmed an inventory for the tamed wolf. Then adding enchantments.
Releasing armors first, giving the programmers a break, then coming back with some enchants for the armors would work out easier. Release things once at a time.
