This is a little idea I had just now. What it is is a block that is only accessible through the /give command. The Mob Egg Customizer. What it is is a table that when you right click it, you can choose a health for the mob, the type of mob to spawn (including golems and giants, but no bosses), drops, name, and possible armor and items. Pumpkins and jack'o lanterns could be placed in the helmet spot. What it would do, is that when you open the GUI, you can, say, make a Zombie with 30 health, put a diamond block on its head, Leather armor everywhere else, a knockback 2 gold sword, and the name "Frank." You would then click a little arrow at the top of the GUI which would bring you to the drop maker. You have the ability to put into the drop maker 3 different drops and the amount of xp that the mob would drop, as well as the chance of dropping each drop. You would then hit the arrow at the top of the GUI again, which brings you to the final screen of the GUI. This screen would have the button that toggles how many of the spawn egg you want in your inventory (if you want to fill dispensers with them), the "ok" button that would give you the spawn eggs, and the "clear" button that would clear all current data from the GUI. This feature would allow for more custom mobs to be made, and the textures/naming of the eggs wouldn't be much different. The textures actually wouldn't change, just be the same as the base mob of the new mob. So, if you make a custom zombie, the spawn egg will look like a zombie egg, maybe with the purple enchanted shine over it, and be called "Spawn (name)", with name being what you call your mob. This would aid in creating adventure maps, and would add a pretty cool feature to the game.
I realize that it may be a little bit hard to code, but when you figure that the naming system is relatively the same as an anvil, and that the armor/weapons/health/drops are all just variables, then it shouldn't be too difficult.
This exact thing is possible, just look at what Hypixel does.
But it would be useful for accomplishing the same without a complicated NBT editor. Support.

Hypixel actually uses mob spawners. It's currently impossible to edit mob data from spawn eggs, though I wish it was (it would make my map a lot easier to make and to control) but spawners are also fairly simple once you get the basic grasp of it.
The only thing I would prefer to see is being able to spawn all entities except the Enderdragon and the Wither. It would be incredibly useful, and there's no real reason why not to. People on old threads talk about the griefing potentials, but seriously? If they have the ability to get mob eggs in the first place, then they can more easily grief with TNT or lava spamming.

You all have valid points, but let me explain my reason for making the post:
1. As a good resource for rookie map makers to create custom mobs at first.
2. For people like Hypixel to be able to test new mobs without having to go through the process of the Editors.

Ever hear of something called running away? Its like running towards them, but without the confrontation and death.
I support this idea. I wish a mod such as TMI has a tab for customization for spawners and mob eggs. It'd be nice to specify what's equipped and where, hell, even if you need block IDs.

Also, I've flipped shovel textures for Tinker's Construct and ExtraTiC for a more realistic-looking animation, check here: http://www.minecraft...hovel-textures/
