Ever since version 1.5 was released, have you ever thought "If only I could make Obsidian without wasting any Redstone," or "What if there was something to crush my materials?" You also might have been thinking "It would be great if there was something that could do so much more than the Hopper." Well this thread is for you! I've put some time into thinking about what these things could potentially become that would still work with Minecraft's mechanics and came up with three awesome devices!
The Crusher
I'm pretty sure you guys are saying "What?! A crusher?! Try using IC2 you n00b!" Well guess what, I've done that already! I'm practically using it's mechanics and applying it into something that would potentially make a lot of sense with Minecraft's mechanics. Below is my representation of how the Crusher is crafted.
C = Cobblestone, P = Piston, H = Hopper, F = Flint
C C C
P F P
C H C
In IC2, I realized how they used Flint as one of the key resources that is being used to create their Macerator, which was meant to potentially double the output of resources that you got from Ores. Well, this crusher does exactly that, but it can basically work the same way, but without the need of using electricity! As you might expect, the Flint is still being used as the main feature for breaking up materials into smaller fragments, but it is using the power of pistons to do it! This potentially makes it possible for you to double your Ore output occasionally get twice the output from your Ores or get some Gravel or even Sand so you can make more glass!
But you guys are probably wondering, why is the hopper part of the crafting ingredients? Well you see, it makes it easier to collect what comes as a result of crushing the materials without making an awful mess out of crushing all that stuff, so it would make complete sense that it would require the Hopper as part of the items used to craft the Crusher.
The Moistener
Now you must be asking "Why in the world would I want to make this?" Well, the purpose of this object is so you can make your Dirt into a block ball of Clay, which you can then smelt into Bricks. It's practically making Clay a renewable resource, but you could even make sand into Dirt with this as well, making that renewable too, plus, it would be pretty convenient so that you don't have to waste so much time having to dig up a bunch of dirt elsewhere just so you can put it to good use.
Here is how to craft it.
H = Hopper, B = Bucket, C = Cobblestone, X = Blank
X X X
H B H
C C C
Now how come this crafting recipe has Hoppers? Well, when you take a look at it, you kind of think of how the hopper would look like it could be used as some kind of funnel for liquids to come through. Well, that was what I was thinking of. The Hopper would be used to collect water in order to moisten up whatever it is you put in it, but there is another use for this too. The reason why I made it so it would require a second Hopper is so you could use it to collect Lava. It would practically make it a lot easier for you to get stuff like Cobblestone or Obsidian without risking getting killed and not having to waste all that Redstone just to get more Obsidian. If you use a Cauldron on the Moistener (after placing it of course), then the Cauldron will replace the Bucket and make make it so you can moisten more items with the Moistener and even use it to fill your water Bottles too (special thanks to unitedsquardron3 for giving me the idea).
The Distributor
When I took a look at how the Hopper worked and how it made it possible to automate smelting blocks and cooking food somewhat, well, I thought of an improvement for it and I came up with what I like to call the Distributor.
This is how you craft it.
H = Hopper, D = Dispenser, C = Chest, X = Blank
X H X
D C D
X X X
The Distributor would be handy for a lot of things, it would make it possible for you to distribute all your materials from one inventory to not one, but multiple inventories! It would potentially allow you to completely automate the processing of all your materials more than you normally would have and sort all the items that you have collected as a result of using a whole bunch of Distributors! It's like having Buildcraft and/or RedPower 2, but without the need to use mods to accomplish that kind of feat.
What do you guys think? I really do hope that you guys will support my ideas, because I really want to see these things added into Minecraft! You guys are welcome to post images of what you think they should look like and their GUIs and if you have any thoughts on what else they should do, by all means, tell me and I might just add them!
Hmm, the crusher seems too much like a duplicator. With one of those things, I would never have to look for Gold and Iron again, along with a lot of other stuff.
Adding a mechanism just to turn soil into clay also doesn't seem like a great idea
However, the distributor sounds fine.
1/3 support. It's not too bad, but decrease how OP the 1st one is, increase how OP the second one is. It's a matter of balance.

Interesting, but too OP. It should have a small chance of doubling the output instead.

Shouldn't be a clay block, it should be a clay ball. Other than that, good idea!

@unitedsquadron3: I was a bit vague with the Crusher, I can do with changing the ore outputs, but as for Stone -> Gravel and Gravel -> Sand, I'll them keep as is, it would seem fair and less OP. What I don't know is what you are telling me about the Moistener, what do you mean by making it more OP? One thing that I do like about the Moistener is that it would work very well when you use it along with the Crusher. I am happy that you agree with what the Distributor should do though.
@StubbyEE: Well, when it comes to the fact that it's only using pistons to break up your materials, it does sound like it wouldn't be very likely to get double the output of what you get from the Ore when you put it in the Crusher, I do agree that it does sound too OP currently. I'll edit that part. As for your suggestion for the Moistener, I suppose that turning Dirt into a ball of Clay instead of a block of Clay since it's Dirt that is getting even more compacted by being moistened. I'll have that edited as well. But I'm pretty darn happy that you like the Distributor!
@Mordikins: It's not a stand in for the Hopper Minecart because it's entirely stationary for one. Also, the Hopper only transfers items from one inventory to one other inventory. This does include the Hopper being able to transfer an item from the Furnace's output slot to another inventory. The sole purpose of the Distributor is to act as an improvement to the Hopper where it can transfer items to multiple inventories from a single inventory.

The moistener is a machine with one use, to make clay. Why not add a few more uses? Oh, and I think the way you fixed the crusher works well.
Oh, you must have gone over the part of the Moistener also being able to collect Lava along with it being able to collect water so you could make Cobblestone or Obsidian with it. I already thought that through for the most part, but I'm happy to hear what other ideas you might have for the Moistener.
And you should credit StubbyEE for telling me how often the Crusher can give you double the output you get from the ores you put in it, it made more sense when I put some logic into it.

I don't think it would be possible to fill the Cauldron with the Moistener since if you took a look at how the Moistener is crafted, the Cauldron couldn't possibly fit into the bucket, but it would work to be able to use the Cauldron on the Moistener to replace the Bucket after placing the Moistener, I do like that idea to be honest. Also, if the water were to somehow fill up the bucket already, then it would make sense that the water could overflow and moisten the surrounding blocks of Dirt that are tilled, but the water could already be doing that because it needs a constant source of water anyway, so the Moistener would have to be able to detect if there is a Water Source block or flowing Water next to it for it to know if it is is receiving any water.

You are doing well, I have a proposal for you, would you like to join a guild dedicated to making good suggestions in the forums? It is a plan that I am working on with others.

I don't see the harm in doing that. I don't post too many suggestions, but they can be good ones as long as I'm comfortable with it. Thanks for inviting me.
