I will say this before I talk about the mob that I would appreciate constructive criticism about this mob to make it more balanced and am okay with basically any changes as long as the basic idea is kept alive. I thought of this while playing minecraft on hard difficulty that there should be some mob that could make an area dark enough for mobs to spawn near it. Like with every mob it should have a nerf/buff depending on the difficulty set for minecraft. This mob is like a paladin of the darkness it is a support type of mob.
(Okay to the nitty gritty of his ability’s)
Health: 30 points. (15 hearts)
Damage: On easy 2 points of damage.(1 heart) On normal 4 points of damage. (2 hearts) On hard 5/6 points of damage. (2 and a half or 3 hearts) Most skeletons when they have an enchantment it is power 1 usually well maybe night can have more of a chance for a punch enchanted bow.)
Height: 2 blocks (same as most mobs)
Special: First thought is that night would have a radius of darkness around him to help mobs spawn around it, or be able to knock torches off walls for mobs to spawn.
Another ability is that he could buff mobs around him with small Regen and fire resistance and would stay on them fore 5 to 10 seconds when they leave a radius of Night. Some skeletons might follow Night up to 2 skeletons or more.
Drops: His drops should be bones, arrows, bow, but something different maybe a material for a decorative block or for potions.
Spawn: Night would spawn at light level 7 or below like normal. A thought would night spawn as rarely as a spider jockey. Like how a spider jockey spawns when a spider spawns, a night has a chance of spawning instead of a skeleton.
Well i edited the a little section and i will say this its a support type mob. A witch is not a healer it is a more damage dealer than anything. The Night can make areas with torches dark for mobs to spawn making it seem like he is more of a dark healer. Since he could not splash pots of health to heal mobs around it. Simply it can be just darker around him to make it seem like he is resurecting more mobs or calling them to battle. (maybe it should be able to walk around in the daytime?) It's purpose is to make it dark to support mobs to spawn in and so it can not be too strong so you can kill it so i thought a type of skeleton that would try to keep a distance while spawning mobs. Also i think i will add to the special that he can increase spawning in his area depending on the players location to him like a nerfed walking spawner i guess.
It should do more damage and be more like a mini-boss.

If it was more powerful it would not be a nerfed walking spawner/healer thing. (i fail) But it would be cool if there was a mini type boss that spawned more mobs around it regardless of light level but that's another topic i am trailing off again. (maybe some more health)
I kind of like the idea of a mob that protects other mobs from sunlight, but you're overreaching. I never want to see a mob deliberately targeting my glowstone. I'm less opposed to it breaking torches, since they're torches, and I have five stacks of those just sitting around all the time.
Even so, expand the "support" and diminish the "attack" role. I'd say, give Nights a potion of fire resistance for him to throw at undeads during the day, and maybe a potion of regen or something
In a mod, I can see this being a viable mob, but in vanilla, he'd be a good miniboss and that's about it.
Still, I do like the idea. He just mainly belongs in a mod, because we have plenty of overworld hostile mobs already. I say what we really need to pay attention to is the AI of the neutral mobs we already have in the overworld.

Cool cool, i think they would work on the neutral mobs Ai first and would not add any mobs like this for a year or more. I just simply think there should be a good support mob that is not too powerful to be a miniboss but like a normal vanilla mob. I do think this character would be tinkered with on this post to the point that Night made sense and seemed not too overpowered. I do not know myself how to mod or any good modders or else i would just make Night a mod. The very reason i posted this was to tinker with the idea of a support mob that made it dark or helped the other mobs around it in one way or another. So who else but the minecraft community help make this mob more realistic to vanillia. Thanks for the sayings if you have any ideas on how to make it more normal mob status i would appreciate it. Night has all the time in the world to be tinkered with until he was put in minecraft. Do i think night will be added to minecraft like this? well positivly no i would imagine it tinkered and made all minecraft vanilla amazing. Also i just thought it would be fun to talk ideas about a support mob.

Night's Ai could always be make it dark when player was not around and buff the mobs when he was. Yea see what you mean ill just erase the bit about glowstone. Also i think if he had an area around him that was dark he should not be able to break any light source item.
Also if he ended up in the end being abit otherworldly of vanilla minecraft they could fit him to be a miniboss that spawns mobs you never know how much night will be tinkered
My first impression would be that you can't write paragraphs (or proper sentences).
My second impression would be that you're inventing a mob that already has it's purpose filled.

Whats wrong with its purpose? I thought a mob that made it darker while slightly buffing mobs around it would be fun as long as it was not too crazy in number or power.
