Intro: Minecraft's continuing success can be attributed to mods and adventure maps because of the recent slowdown of new content (really, a hopper). However, mods don't play well together, so there's modding APIs, but THEY don't play well together, so now a modding API is being added to Vannilla, but that is taking forever. Therefore, I shall step up to the plate (yay metaphor) and make my own ideas. Also, to lower the need for mods I shall do feature suggestions. However, I want you to give suggestions as well. The type of suggestions that there should be is API suggestions, or feature suggestions.
If you have suggestions, or know of any great ones, post them here, ore (hehe lame pun) if its already posted somewhere in Minecraft forums, post a link.
Also, something that gets annoying is installing adventure maps and texture packs, and mods, so, there should be a utility that comes with minecraft to aid in these activities. Post ideas about other things this utility should do.
API Rules: The idea is minecraft is pushed out of minecraft.jar, leaving the core behind (like the rendering engine). So, it has to be possible to implement the features of minecraft now using the API.
Feature Rules: If using a link, say also the title and the person who made it, that is so that I can much more easily create a feature page, and I want to consolidate all the feature suggestions by the same person together.
Note: I will post my suggestions from time to time, every Sunday (why?), so stay tuned (to a forum) for more great, so-so, or outright horrible ideas from me.
How is Minecraft "Too special"? Minecraft doesn't need pointless add-ons to make the game complete.
This is ok but very self-biased. Some parts could go in, but it really isn't all "Needed"
By Minecraft is too special, I mean there is all this code in the "Minecraft core" with special cases to handle specific things in the "Minecraft mod" when none is needed. Like map holding.

Suggestion #1
Villagers look like Squidwards, but make no noise, so, they should randomly make squidward noises*. While Im on the topic of villagers, the unused villager skin should be used, for a new profession.
Brown robe = Librarian (changed from farmer)
White robe = Scientist (experiments with blocks in a lab, changed from librarian)
Purple robe = Priest (enchants weapons)
Blue robe = Farmer (new skin, works in farms)
Blue robe with hard hat = Miner (mines ores and stones and digs dirt) or Lumberjack (chops trees)
Green robe = Mayor (leads everyone else)
Indigo robe = Non-hostile witches (brews potions)
White apron = Chef (now wears hat, cooks food)
Black apron = Blacksmith (now smelts ores)
Naked = Knight (wears armour and protects village) or Archer (same thing)
Basically, they are players but with AI, not controlled by user input.
Also, jungle villages (with paths of stone, and tree houses) should spawn, as well as mountain resorts in extreme hills and ice mountains, wood mills in forests and taiga, farms also in plains, and unabandoned mineshafts underground also. Remote villages should also be in ice plains, and Smurfs style villages in mushroom biomes (ie, mushrooms as houses). The increase in variety and biomes to spawn means the spawn has to be rarer.
The AI should be changed to being leader based, ie. Mayors are the leaders of different professions, which have leaders for the rest of their members.
*By that, I mean like 'hah', one can simply get a microphone and do it.
Suggestion #2
Better stacks. The current stack implementation, is left wanting. Stacks should now be used to group items with the same id, not the same id, data and everything else. A simple dialog could be used to select substacks (seperated by data and everything else). This should help improve inventory management, and maximise inventory space so that you know when your inventory is full. An idea will be to hide certain items in certain filters. These filters should be user defined. Speaking of items, I think they should be more than simple images, ie. your diamond pickaxe, should be safe if you die in lava (well, the diamond part), and can be thrown into chests and cauldrons (by that I mean i'm going to re introduce cauldron based brewing, but slower, since the brewing stand is more expensive.

Locked for wishlisting. Please do not post multiple unrelated suggestions in the same thread. In addition, do not encourage other users to put forth suggestions unrelated to yours. If they have an idea, they can make their own topic.

Have you seen my sig before I changed it, and my reply to this topic http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1196644-pigcreeper-rare-mashup/page__st__20. I just don't know how to do NBT in a forum post.
