I propose that there should be a specific area where this new mob should be.
What are they?: Nether ghosts are white transparent figures that fly and walk... but not as suicidal ghasts.
what do they do?: Nether Ghosts can possess the characters body and make it walk, or blind its victim for 2-5 seconds with a light of souls.
nausea will be an effect from possession for 7-10 seconds. Their damage rate is 1 heart per possess. They will not be able to possess multiple times, i would say 3 seconds before any other attack from the ghost.
what do they drop?: If Nether Ghosts were implemented they should drop a jar of souls, which could be used for a night light or a handy blast or damage protection from creepers.
what Items can you craft with jar of souls?: The Jar of souls can be used to brew into a possession protection potion I or II. Bottle of water + Netherwart + Jar of Souls = Possession protection I +
( glowstone = Possession protection II )
what kind of damage do they do?: If anything they just either possess the body, blind you, or give you nausea, and one heart of damage.
where it should spawn?: This Nether Ghost would spawn in enclosed areas of the nether and should rarely spawn.they spawn more likely in soul sand patches.
what is its health?: The Nether Ghost's health would be 25 hearts.
why i think this should be implemented?: I think this should be implemented because i am feeling a lacking of the nether. there are more and more updates to the nether each update but i would like this to be the next level. I also think that if there is soul sand there should be at-least one soul in that area that was not put to rest.
Please leave your feedback and what you would change in this topic. I would highly appreciate it.
It's an okay idea, but they should not spawn in groups like other mobs. You say that one can't possess you you if it did within 3 seconds, but if there were multiple Ghosts they could take turns possessing. So either you can't be possessed within 3 seconds by anything or they spawn one at a time.
I kind of think they should drop something to be used in potions. Maybe it makes a Possession Protection potion, and if you corrupt it with Fermented Spider Eyes it becomes a Blind Potion?

I agree with badprenup in that they shouldn't spawn in groups and what there drops should be. A jar of souls doesn't make sense coming from a near invisible entity that doesn't truly have a body.
Also. I think getting possessed would be pretty annoying because you lose control of what your doing. And how would you kill them? If they have no tangible body that they are able to move into your body, then how do you hit them with a sword?
well i agree with single spawning. if there was a group of two neither of them would probably be able to possess you for 3 seconds. if anything the duration of the effects would be rather shorter.
potions i also agree with. that would be a really great idea when in conflict with one of these savaged souls.
if anything it should probably jar of glowing souls.
>>Potion of possession protection I and II<<
also if they don't have a tangible body, basically the only way to kill them is with the sword of sharpness. but damage rates do vary according to sword.

How does it make sense that they would drop a "jar" of souls? I can see them dropping souls that you have to put in a glass bottle or something, but a jar? I'm not feeling it.
Ya, I guess they would. I'm not really for the idea, I'm just seeing if it will change into something I'm more intrigued with. My reason is, I'm all for making the End, and the Nether better.

Also, here is an awesome suggestion I had: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1745550-biome-effects/
its only available in the nether.
its possession attacks are useless with the potion of Possession Protection.
