This is the first time I've been on the forums in a long time, but I randomly got an idea while watching youtube videos earlier today.
Lots of people (especially those who enjoy the building aspect of the game a lot) complain about the streak-y glass texture in vanilla. Some people use texture packs to solve this, others just change the glass texture. It seems that Mojang no intention of changing the vanilla glass texture, but what about a new glass?
My random idea is purified glass. Eight glass blocks around a single diamond in the middle gives you eight "Purified Glass." Yeah, this is a little expensive to get rid of some streaks in your glass, but it gives you another building block in the game that takes a small bit of wealth to acquire. In the long run, it's not that bad. Eight diamonds gets you a stack, and that's a lot more than enough for most homes and small projects. Anyone building massive scale projects that need a lot of the stuff would probably have enough resources/diamonds to afford it. This would help advanced structures to show that they're built by advanced players, considering the sloppy glass texture can throw off the look of even the most complex vanilla builds.
The glass texture could be a very very VERY (Very.) slightly tinted blue transparent block that is seamless when side-by-side, and has a diamond-blue border.
Anyone else think this sounds like a good idea? Criticism, both positive or negative?
Also, no one would ever make glass that expensive, they will just continue to use texturepacks, because clear glass isn't that of an important thing to use diamonds on.
No one? I know that I definitely would, as well as a few friends and youtubers. Diamonds, in reality, aren't THAT rare. And, like I said, a stack of this stuff would be more than enough for a fairly nice home and would only take eight diamonds.
Possibly, another thing (I wouldn't use them for windows) maybe diamond blocks could be slightly clear, that might look neat, after all, diamonds are a clear gem!
That's also a good idea, but like you said would not be used for windows. I honestly think that the "purified glass" idea would work nicely, though I understand your logic about the glare being from light.
